You should care about what is happening with the CWB. The fact that you don't, working for the largest grain handler in W.Canada, shows that you and your company are in a win-win sitution with this scenario. There in lies the problem, who's losing? I can take a guess...

I new as soon as I stated that we dont care, I would get a response. It took a little longer that I expected.

Anyway, it is not that we dont care, it is that this debate has been going on for a long time.

We just wish all the talking would stop and get some actions. You are not going to sway anyones postion so the talking is just wasted breath.

does your grain company feel that they can/will get more money back into the producers pocket on (board) grains than what the board is now?

If so how? Is the price out there on world markets?

When we get these kinds of real answers and comitments from grain industry only then can we all make a true commitment to issue and put it to bed.

If I marketed for the biggest grain handler in Canada, I would try to gag those noisemakers who try to put the brakes on the CWB. After all, the CWB is the grain handler's bread and butter, the real guaranteed profit with no risk, in spite of the fact that farmers don't make money

First, as a real take-charge kinda guy, I would demand to change the on-line climate away from the farmers' problems, to the company's goal which is to find out what present stocks are out there. For free. Lentils. Peas . Barley, all of them.

Then I would try to get every seeding intention from every farmer I could. For free.

Then I would try to determine what those farmers are NEEDING to break even. For free.

Then I would try to determine what those farmers are WANTING for a price. For Free.

When I had calculated the offerings, figures, and guesstimates, I would submit my trend sheet to head office and hope for a raise.

If I was head office, and I had hired a guy who posted that:

1. farmers are complainers
2. a farmer website is not to be used for what farmers want to talk about,
3. the largest grain handler in the DA doesn't give a rats $3%$ about what farmers think,

....I'd be ticked.

I would hope to hell, my company 's name didn't pop up on screen, when somebody looks up stats on who handles the most grain in Western Canada.

To the "grainguy" this website demonstrates the very reason why the CWB has to be voluntary.Two people the same generation,same region(western canada),same job(grain farmer),same religion(my relatives),couldn't be divided on any issue more than the CWB monopoly.This issue won't die until evryone is entitled to their own opinion and rights whether your for or against.So if you don't like the debate you probably should't log on until it's finally over.

Agricore can buy feed wheat and barley direct from the farmer and bypasss CWB marketing and pooling. Domestically-captive DA farmers selling feed grain to a Multi who is able to export the feed and access world price results in Ca-ching.

Agri-core needs to estimate what is presently in the bins, what will be seeded, and at what price to set the "290 crop protection products available"

Funny, I was just offered $9.73/bu for my Canola Spring of 08 delivery.

Strange I didn't sell a bu.

Why?

If they are offering this just after the market collapsed for the past week... in the Jan doldrums...

What might the price be in late March when they must bid for acres?

What happens IF there is a drought in western Canada this summer... How high will prices go then?

Risk Management is what this is truly all aboout... if we are inteligent grain growers and marketers.

Are you saying farmers would be wasting breath dialoguing with AU?

Ten years ago, CWB-dissident farmers were rare birds, whereas in 2006, most farmers now view the CWB with much more pragmatic eyes, and an overwhelming number of those farmers do not want the CWB as their marketing partner AT ALL!

Farmer opinion has reversed, and will continue to reverse, because farmers talk to each other, to governments,& to elites,and agri-business.

Should AU revisit the policy you now promote?
