furrowtickler,
Our hope it that we can get straight into biofuels that are NOT grain based.
The rest of the world can blow their brains out on grain based biofuels... we can backfill the grain market... as long as we are allowed to access the export market. That may not happen quickly...

Would also note Canada has been announcing new crushing plants even though the major target market may not be bio diesel. If the two new plants plants come on line (LDC/JRI), that will add on an additional 1.5 mln tonnes of capacity. All the existing plants are tweeking/expanding. The vegetable oil market remains a better target that the bio diesel even with the subsidies.
Would agree with Tom4cwb - do we want to target the grain based ethanol with current technology (corn has a big advantage over anything we produce) or do we want to invest in the next process (fiber based, etc.)?
