Parsnip....yeah....quote this over on the cowboard and they`ll flip.Probably cause they don`t believe written word.It has to be campfire logic generally enhanced with malt barley products!!!Wonder how much the CWB total `benefit`is when flax is included.

parsley: It would be much easier and less disjointed if you were to just quote the source so that WE could access it ourselves. Either that, or send us all a copy of the book that this is quoted from.
I like reading history books...especially books on the early days and why and how the CWB was organized and its transition over the years.

“Secret
CABINET WHEAT COMMITTEE
December 5, 1946 at 11:00 a.m.
11. The Minister of agriculture felt that it would be desirable to have an additional million acres seeded to barley; this might be accomplished by providing for a payment of $5.00 per acre on land seeded to barley at the same time removing the equalization payments. Such a policy, if adopted, would stimulate hog production.
12. Mr. McNamara stated that barley producers would deliver approximately 75 million bushels during the present year, of which amount 50 million bushels would be retained for domestic use. The present policy, in the opinion of barley producers entailed a great sacrifice on their part.”

wilagrow,
An individual applied to Access to Information ten or so years ago, so the originals are not with us, but in the archives. We have photopcopies.
They come with even the little scribble notes on them, and have national Archives of Canada numbers stamped on them.
I can't wait for Access to Information about the CWB. It will be so interesting.

"Farmers are of one mind. And that mind is in a building on main street in wpg.The capability and wisdom of that mind is far greater tnan all the little farmer ones,so it must have the power to help you, using its greatness."
well winwin, I am a farmer and if you are one too I am certainly not of your mind.....my little farmer mind can think for itself and can choose what it does for itself.........using its greatness, what are you on!!!
so, I suppose that along your lines of thinking why should we stop at our wheat and barley, maybe we should collectively manage our equity, cash, land.......
as I have said before, and have never got an answer on, specifically related to a crop that has grown to be the number one source of income gerenation for farmers in the DA, never mind cash flow, how ddid canola ever manage to become the crop it has for western canada without the infinite wisdom of a collective marketing monopsony? All of us little ones out there on the prairie have managed just fine with that one.......
the history is important, because most farmers are under the perception the board was created to deal with perceived injustices being heaped on farmers from the open markets at the time, the plain and simple fact was that was at the least not the sole basis for its creation

Well northfarmer,at least you are consistent.ITs my allies benny, agstar I have to watch.Sometimes I wonder if they really believe that all crops should be under the cwb.We need to Have integrity and stick to our principles. Our current directors for example are just managing a slow retreat.Noone critizes when they try to imitate the disgusting market with their programs. And the latest thing, this Field to Plate! Why shold some greedy guy make money outside the pool. These people need to be watched for their purity.500 tons per mill. That could be as much as 20 bushels for every farmer. We're going the wrong way here.
