March . . . .
March will be interesting. Corporate layoffs about to explode. Credit event? Equites? Equities could get a taste of what wheat growers are feeling.
Not sure how central bankers will tongue-tie us all into their soft landing B & S. More countries will announce their economic ship has sunk . . . .
Rates could drop in-a-flash. Certainly, no suggestion of this on any major financial newscast. Inflation is the problem, not the debt implosion. Go figure (IMO) . . . .

Geopolitics will be changed much more than MSM can influence.

U.S. bank credit is said to be contracting to levels not seen since 1974. A wall of bank failures ahead? So many red economic flags out there, stopped counting . . . .
If stock market crashes, it may take years to recover. 2000 dot.com crash a blueprint?
China deflation running rampant. Vehicle prices now crashing.
March rate cuts still possible if the wheels fall off (IMO).

In the past, when people need to raise cash, they sell gold, also.
Currently, USD is considered the safe play.

Market rumblings . . . . Reports that Bill Gates has just dumped entire portfolio. Hard to believe, if true. Jeff Bedoes said to have sold $6 billion of Amazon over past week. And Canadian Tire 4th quarter results brutal.
Nvidia results on Wednesday, we’ll see.

Perhaps governments will worry when there are no buyers, only traders.
If you don't want to gamble, but want the glory, then be like the local that places his bets equally both ways, and widely reports only his wins.
The best one is the cattle breeder who sells his champion bull for huge money to a competitor, and buys the competitor's bull for the same price.

Stock market seems to be on a tear for the last 4 months. Have read a few stats about stock exchanges usually do well on a run up to a US election. Anyone have detailed information on this?

internet rumours are worse than the coffee shop rumours
Errol says Bill Gates rumoured to have dumped entire portfolio. OK...
https://finbold.com/heres-bill-gates-updated-stock-portfolio/ this website says it was 65% of the portfolio. OK....
https://twitter.com/TheLongInvest/status/1758996697953235196/photo/1 The source that that website links to is screenshots on a twitter post showing the foundation sold 2.74% of their microsoft holdings, 9.2% of their deere holdings, 11.6% of their berkshire hathaway holdings, and 100% of quite a slew of relatively tiny holdings. Check out the second picture which shows a number of larger holdings that were untouched. The sales, if you add up the % change to portfolio column on the far right, add up to... (drumroll, please....) about 4.47% of the total portfolio.
Holy hell, guys. don't believe everything you read on the internet. In fact, don't believe anything!
Not to be a dick to you Errol. And really I can't find anything to say they haven't liquidated a lot more since the report dates of those screenshots so I could be eating crow in a few weeks. Just pointing out it's crazy how things get changed like a game of telephone, or the gossip mill in the community. Just in the post I linked, sales got inflated from under 5% to 65%. this is the kind of misinformation that causes people to panic.Last edited by Marusko; Feb 20, 2024, 16:04.
