I started my career spraying with an open tractor. I predate gloves and masks. (We were small farmers)
Here's what I do know. (I am still small).
?????? I now use a sprayer on 6 x the acres with up to 4 passes per acre.
We never insecticide.
I've never been affected by chems nor do I have any allergies.
Some chems make some people sick. I get it.
Some groups have a smell and 'taste' that are obvious.
Gly definitely not one of these.
I do however, acknowledge that in some crops it is used a fair amount.
I've met Don Huber. A brilliant mind under that conspiracy hat.
Warmer and wetter season ag regions use one heck of a lot more chemical treatments from field to fork than we ever, ever will!
How many times are stored grains fumigated on average in many countries?? I'll wait....
How many grams per hectare active are applied to some crops?
How many times is fruit sprayed before picking in some countries??
I'll wait.....
I concede that pre harvest gly doesn't "show" well.
Not sure how I'd compete without it.
As all costs follow yields upward.
We have resistant WOats issues here as well as the need for aggressive dessication.
Focusing on one product on the lower end of the toxicity scale is a disservice to everyone.
We are using flawed biases yet again and again.
Once more we are burying the whipping post without comprehensive thought to ramifications. Or whole picture study. Sound familiar??
Figure out how to feed the pop.
Figure out who else is doing so and how. Figure out replacement tech while maintaining GDP.
Ag policies in the ever shrinking First World are brought to you by the same people who designed the carbon strategy. Anything at all smell familiar??
Get off your horse and design tech Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America will readily adopt.
In the meantime, consider how narrow minded your singular crusade really is. How contrary to the big picture.
Don't be a Chuck.
Be an advocate for your industry not a Benedict Arnold. Do better, find better.
