Until we looked into energy efficiency.
To meet modern energy efficiency standards, the bricks would need to be something preposterous like 4 feet thick. Or else require a false wall inside just for insulation purposes.

Tell that to the north side of my house which is always much colder when the wind gets to it.
I can’t imagine trying to get by with less insulation. I’m also in a tiny old house, with poorly sealing doors. Always have coats hung along the edges to keep drafts out. Great big chunks of frost on the handle each time we go out these days.

Just keeping the water flowing, bedding fresh, and bovine bellies full is consuming all daylight and then some. Hydraulic hoses, pto’s, and getting belts turning just makes it more fun. -40 again here and next weekend they show a +2 ………..
Critters seem to be handling it fine so far thankfully besides this bull that will be caught shortly to give some hot water therapy to his tail. Anything that can go wrong will do so at the least convenient time possible

Swapped aeration fans around. With the canvas bin sock, which is supposed to be easier than unbolting a fan. At -40, the flimsy canvas held its pipe shape once the air was shut off. Removing it from the flange on the bin was like prying a 10 ply bias truck tire off a one piece rim( been there done that on a manure spreader).
