This is a high price in the red market today. Has it filled? Asking for interest only?

I’m thinking red acres will be going down significantly. Greens will be through the roof.
Hoping Australia’s red lentil crop isn’t going hurt our price again.

.50 -.55 new crop greens will push acres even where they shouldn’t be grown.

Good thing is there will be baciallly zero carry over with these prices today.

I don't think we see a significant drop, in fact my view is reds will increase in areas that cant grow a green lentil as profit is still higher then many other crops. Even at 32 cents ($19.20/bushel). Guys that have grown 30+ bushel crops will still see that as profitable. Even a 1500 lb. crop is almost $500/acre. Compare that with a 40 bushel durum crop at $10-11 and that is a good scenario on price in my view.

It wasn't too many years ago that a $500/acre gross revenue was a complete home run. On our farm that's over $200/acre profit.

Green lentil acreage will see a massive increase. Especially small greens.

I am believe Australia will continue with expanded acreage. They have a weaker CDN Dollar then us which makes their price in Aus dollars higher. About 15%. 32 cad would be 37 Aus. Freight costs tend to be lower from farm gate as well as well as ocean freight costs to India. It would be interesting if someone from Australia gave current farm gate prices on here.

Edit - weaker Aus means weaker $ for all crop prices so maybe it is irrelevant.
