There used to be lobbyists for beef, but that may have changed.

? I grew up milking cows and would never make this personal. Like any farmer, dairy guys can get tunnel vision too.??????British Columbia 437 75,100 7,221,505 172 16,525 Alberta 547 77,900 7,015,384 142 12,825 Saskatchewan 163 27,100 2,426,736 166 14,888 Manitoba 299 44,700 3,450,720 150 11,540 Ontario 3,834 318,700 26,921,164 83 7,022 Quebec 5,766 354,100 30,016,781 61 5,206 New Brunswick 354 18,500 1,394,496 90 6,769 Nova Scotia 225 23,200 1,804,153 103 8,019 Prince Edward Island 174 14,300 1,032,523 82 5,934 Newfoundland & Labrador 32 6,000 483,413 188 15,107 CANADA 11,683 959,600 81,766,876
First column number of farms.
Fourth column number of cows per farm.
Whether it's the farmers or the processors, their power keeps Quebec in the 1960s and single mother's everywhere paying $3.00 more per gallon than the alternative.
A chuck chuck system at work.

Has anything west of Ontario ever really mattered?
How does our lobby system really function in this country anyway??
It appears like this. How many seats in your province and how much did you donate to the party.
Notice that Greenpeace is not a registered charity so that it can lobby. See their budget. And we keep our noses buried in agronomy.
Maybe it's merely coincidence that Gilbeau worked for GP?
How many old farmers would vote for millions per year on lobbying and donations??
That's really where the RR clawback $ should go.
Fixating on who develops new varieties and what we pay for them while staying out in the cold in Ottawa.Last edited by blackpowder; Jan 27, 2024, 09:42.

All I know is what I see and that is cheese is three to four times as expensive at home as it is in other countries. Even the island of Aruba is a third of the price and everything there is brought in Europe. Would sure like to see a list like Blackpowder listed for dairy for chickens, turkeys and eggs.

Even the 166 surprises me.
If the 61 cow guy is a big factor in setting the COP it's not hard to see how dairy operators here can run the land prices.

I kinda remember someone on here laughing at the ranchers that couldn’t make a go at it, it was later revealed that he had a small dairy somewhere near Moose Jaw, not many more than 50 cows? Anyway not many cow guys get a holiday, I’m sure that every wedding or funeral I attend i had some kind. Of cow emergency that almost made me late.

The U.K really screwed itself thru Brexit. Had a good trade deal with Canada thru E.U - and now it cant trade with Either E.U or Canada without a BoatLoad of Paper Work!
Moral of the story is when someone Promises you something that SOUNDS to good to be true- it probably is
