I have a dairyfarm neighbour who we seed for...and they spread extra manure on our land. I will never ever say a bad word about them. They work their tails off and never... ever.. take holidays. Uber rare.

Blame the dairy cartel who make money hand over fist on the 7$/ gallon milk we pay for. They are the crooks and we all know it. Saputo has more lobbyists than the cigarette companies...
the system is broken broken and it cant be open up. They would have to subsidize the existing dairy farms in lost income and a huge devaluation in their overall farm assets.

Agree , I have a lot of respect for the dairy farmers themselves. It’s a 24/7 very committed job .

Yes they work hard that's their choice 7 days a week just like guys with feedlots. One thing they do control is the price of farm land in a lot of the country.

? I grew up milking cows and would never make this personal. Like any farmer, dairy guys can get tunnel vision too.

Whether it's the farmers or the processors, their power keeps Quebec in the 1960s and single mother's everywhere paying $3.00 more per gallon than the alternative.

Maybe it boils down to number and concentration of MPs?
Has anything west of Ontario ever really mattered?
How does our lobby system really function in this country anyway??
It appears like this. How many seats in your province and how much did you donate to the party.

Notice that Greenpeace is not a registered charity so that it can lobby. See their budget. And we keep our noses buried in agronomy.

How many old farmers would vote for millions per year on lobbying and donations??
That's really where the RR clawback $ should go.
Fixating on who develops new varieties and what we pay for them while staying out in the cold in Ottawa.

All I know is what I see and that is cheese is three to four times as expensive at home as it is in other countries. Even the island of Aruba is a third of the price and everything there is brought in Europe. Would sure like to see a list like Blackpowder listed for dairy for chickens, turkeys and eggs.

There hasn't been any 61 cow dairy operators here since maybe the late 70's?

Even the 166 surprises me.

If the 61 cow guy is a big factor in setting the COP it's not hard to see how dairy operators here can run the land prices.
