Well I understand why some might think farms/farmers are doing well with new machinery, new buildings etc. However in the same breath you don’t see Plumbers driving around in 1996 or older service trucks, electricians aren’t using tools that came over on the ark, lots of new homes are going up in the suburbs of every city in the entire country, drive around in any city and most of the vehicles are fairly new, city buses no longer roar with the sound of Detroit diesels, on and on. What a shame if there is a little prosperity in farm country.

Had to chuckle took wife to town while at $store constant parade of new trucks , Yukons and other top end SUV'S (mostly driven by Huts ) dropping wives and girlfriends off to shop. Don't think there is a truck older than 2 years at our P+H.

Melfort especially!

UFA is moving in with a new fuel dealership.
Synergy ag is setting up a new ag outlet.
G3 has a new elevator that they just got up and running.
Good times I guess?
The last new Ag Dealership that went into Melfort was 1981/82, an International dealership. Multi Million dollar state of art building in 1982....took them 15 years to pay for it and they barely made a living from it....then CaseIH pulled the franchise, gave it to someone else and the building sat empty for years and now is a Ford Dealership.
Brandt and Redhead will pay cash for their new buildings and keep soaking the farmers that are left after this upcoming fallout. .G3 used all the CWB farmers money left by the Ritz fire sale to the Saudis to build the dream grain handling company from zero to hero....well the rest we will see what happens....but the human tendency is to be over optimistic in good times and end up....screwing up. We all do it to a certain degree. Another old saying..."don't bet more than you can afford to loose."

A little true story, unfortunately
Had conversations with several higher ups in AG industry this fall / winter.
They all truly believe we all make make way too much margin. that’s an absolute fact they think . Every single one in the ag industry that does not farm, thinks that way
all because 10-15% of the farms have done incredibly well the past 3 years . The other 85% of us are not in that situation
Way to many fine details posted regularly on Agriville regarding pucrchases of new machiney and buildings, yeilds, years of on farm stored grain, government program participation, etc etc.
It's a public form with many views and only a very limited amount of posters. Not hard to figure out information gathering is done with very little effort needed by our "caring" Ag Industry partners.
Yes, they can more than likey find the information elsewhere, but really why would any farmer want to make their lives easier?
