    Ontario Wheat Marketing Board

The Ontario Wheat Producers’ Marketing Board Regulations (under the Farm Products Marketing Act) now reads:

All wheat shall be marketed by a producer either to the local board in accordance with Part 2 or

by the producer to a buyer of the producers’ choice in accordance with Part 3.

Are you trying to confuse producers. We are told every day that this system will not work and does not work. Then you come up with an example that is working.Oh yes but it's different in Ontario.

      Craig & Parsley;

You forgot; We don't live in Canada. we are out in the 3rd world backwaters.

Out CWB is so civilised it won't pay it's CEO, and insults the Minister responsible whenever possible.

If we don't respect private property rights, ourselves (in the designated area")... why should those who live in the "civilised" part of Canada respect them either?

In 1973, Ontario wheat producers, with a majority of 75.9%, approved a single -desk marketing plan.

        Beginning in 2000;

OWPMB Board of Directors decided to permtted certain volumes of wheat to be marketed outside the single-desk:

        150,000 tonnes in 2000 and 2001 200,000 tonnes in 2002

Wished we had a B of D in the West that cared about farmers.

            Vader, these are facts:

Black and white ones 4U !

To market outside the monopoly producers got what they called an exemption certificate from the OWPMB.

Total exemption allowed each year was not exceeded.

In 2003, the B of D removed the cap on exemptions!

So exactly 30 years after single-desking the farmer Board created an open market for wheat in Ontario.

Respect for fellow farmers in spades, Vader, that's what life is all about.

Part 3 of the Ontario regulations:

Farmers marketing their own wheat will have the marketing license.

Farmers marketing their wheat to OWPMB, have four options:

              1. pooling,
              2. forward price contract,
              3. specified delivery contract
              4. direct marketing.
Now what is so difficult setting this up? Couldn't a first year university class make this their marketing project?

What is wrong with this Board of Directors?

                Parsley,

THE CWB BOD can't even figure out how to pay a it's President... let alone market grain!

What you are expecting... is way beyond "single desk" mental capability...

Envy, fear, intimidation, and greed would not be allowed to rule the "designated area" any longer! That would never do!

Prosperity is a state of mind... not a number in a bank account.

Dangerous business this talk of separate regimes in separate provinces. What if Albertans vote to support choice in this plebiscite?Could strahl take the position that Albertans have as much right as Ontarians?
It depends whether you see us as one tribe prairie-wide;as all one collective nation wide or as ten little tribes. Some see us as individuals, not as tribe members at all.
Being a communist like the Central Committee of the cwb,I see all the property as band property so its up to chief Ritter and council to decide for all of you.You all have your treaty-producer id- number tatooed on your wrist.

When choice wins in the barley plebicite and then in the following wheat pleabicite would it be possible for the Canadian wheat board to merge with the Ontario model or quebecs for that matter. In fact I would encourage them to do that to price diferentiare themselves out of the marke.

That seems to be the sticking point they can price discriminate read undercut the market to make the sale. Or they can price discriminate to make it the same price with freight backed of to another supplier
                            THERE IS NO MONOPOLY

2001 78% of the wheat produced in Ontario was sold to OWPMB

2002.....complete elimination of single‑desk with 76% of the wheat produced in Ontario sold to OWPMB.

2003...first year after the elimination of the single‑desk. OWPMB marketed only 18% of the wheat produced in Ontario.

                              2004---- 13%

                              2005 ---33%
