Good morning. It's Friday and finally a week where grain prices seem to be heading in the right direction.
Lots of flipping contacts from March to May are happening.
Ok, since some were butt hurt with math from last week, let's look at fall contracts.
Wheat yesterday for a number 2 with 13 protein was $8.25. Last fall, I was close to 10.25. That is $2.00 a bushel less. An 80 BPA crop with all the stars aligned is $660.00 per acre, a decent return and profitable.
Yes, $160.00 drop from last fall's prices.
If you have a $ 150-acre rent, math soon gets serious. The price drop is equivalent to rent. If you own most, it's not an issue. Suppose you're an investor; that's his profit or hers. I think we are approaching a correction real soon.
But let's throw in a non-perfect year, and your wheat yield is 60 at $8.25, which is $495.00; let's go worse than 40, that's $340.80. But worse yet, a frost and its feed. 40 x 4 is $160.00. Plus crop insurance. Loss big time.
Bankers get genuinely funky.
When are investors leaving, or will they clean house, and we are all peasants?
Oh boy, things sure look like 1981.
But now throw in Trudeau adding $591 billion more borrowing to Canada's debt.
He is going to try to buy the election with the NDP. Watch it's going to happen.
On equipment news, a new Case combine that's painted red over the yellow. It is a decent machine, but it will be priced the same as x 9s. New Deere big quad redesigned and 830 hp. I'm not sure we need that, but it's interesting.
Trump gets fined by NY for paying back his loans in full with interest because the state feels his buildings are overvalued. NY just shot itself in the foot, as no investor will build in that city ever again. The Bank wasn't worried; they did due diligence, valued the real estate and took what they needed for loans. Don't tell me the DEMOCRATS ARENT TRYING TO BUY THE ELECTION DOWN SOUTH.
For the first time in a half-century, an American-built spacecraft has landed on the; it's time for a Friday cocktail.
