As a sane farmer would you..........

    Would you support an organization that markets your grain when;

You can forward price your wheat just across the line in North Dakota off the combine for 5.32/bu.

However the organization you are forced to sell to is offering you 4.63/bu a premium which could be anywhere from 0 to $.80/bu. You also have to store this wheat until the buyer sees fit to take delivery.

I'm afraid this just isn't practical for most farmers in this day and age! How can anyone support this nonsense? Even if we don't gain anything by the loss of the single desk we surely have nothing to lose.

Now think about this, the monopolists claim we have much to lose.

They claim that the $4.63 you are forced to take would be even lower still without the all powerful board. And many of them honestly believe that.

When someone refuses to look at evidence like this it is the very definition of ideology.

keep doing the same thing over and over...

Yet expect a different result each time?

Why do wheat and barley growers want a "single desk" marketing system?

Because they think it is a novel idea to take their neighbours grain, combine it with their own... then insure that we all get less... so we can go to the taxpayer cap in hand... and whine and snivel about how badly everyone treats us! (Winters out in the backwaters are too long... and we need to be kept from shooting each other... as the gophers are all hybernating!)

Should CDN taxpayers care...? "Designated area" grain growers won't even respect each other or treat each other with common decency...

We just are a bunch of wimps!

              CWB
yield 40 x initial 2.17 fall delivery 20% if lucky 1000 acre base farm.
              Income 8000 x 2.17 = 17360 and then wait for remainder. 2.46 x 8000 = 19680
              US System
              yield same 20% forward price.
              8000 x 5.32 = 42560.00 CASH!
Can pay almost all of your cash advance in one delivery, can pay fert bill land rent etc. what can you pay with 17,360 nothing is the answer soy farmers then sell canola or barley or oats or peas off the combine for what ever the market will pay. look at charts last 10 years fall price was higher in fall only one year than spring.
Its about cash flow boys and the CWB is helping depress all prices.

You sure got that one right. How many guys out there had to sell canola and oats this past fall at lousy prices to pay the bills when they should have been selling wheat at record prices.

You hit the nail on the head between malt, wheat and the canola I presold in the fall for cash flow i don't even want to think about how much money the CWB cost me this year.

Thank you so much CWB for penalizing farmers who know how to market their grain.

The CWB has done such an excellent job of pounding home they get a premium, it has left a lot of farmers thinking they simply can not get a better price than the board.

That culture is difficult to overcome because of the power of that stratey. Right or wrong, it is believed there is a premium. As of late, that has been challenged, but cultures change slowly and without an outright demonstration of fraud, it is unlikely to change in the near term.

There is great comfort in knowing you will get an average price, not the lowest, a lot of the older farmers have a lot of money they don't need the highest, and it is simple. Again, there is great comfort in that (not good marketing) and will be almost impossible without government intervention to allow change for those who wish it.

Thing is to not become insane during the process of achieving some sanity and freedom in the market.

Outright blatant widely known fraud did little to change a large number of Aussie farmers minds who are still in love with the concept.

Listen comrades, the peoples monopoly has never been about more money.Only lately has the cwb even been pretending to be afarm agency. It was designed to collect/collectivise private property for the state and its friends. It is very useful for that.

Are you one of the friends of the state?Normally Liberal;always eastern controlled.Theres far more important people than you in the peoples republic.

So stop this counter-revolutionary talk and just believe! The cwb adds almost 1BILLION.Thats one dollar per bushel.SO perhaps our prices are ONE dollar lower than outside the wall;they would be TWO dollars per bushel lower if there were no walls.

Understand, comrades, the fence around the slaughterhouse is for the good of the cattle inside.

A sane farmer may be okay with this. Understanding that all of ones competitors are in the same boat in the area this farmer is weakest.

This sane farmer's strength may be somewhere else and have a weakness in marketing or selling the output.

So by holding all of the competitors (farmers) in the same spot this farmer would gain a competitive advantage over the farmers that are better marketers or sellers

Winwin, is the CWB paying you? Either way your comments make me sick? How can you say that the board makes us more money than an open market? We have nothing to compare too with our wheat and barley. I can respect that back in the day the board made sense for farmers, things are a lot different now and the board is giving it to us in the ear!!
