Good morning this will be quick since it’s still early April.
There is a chance of rain today but a system is coming in next week close to my birthday I checked the calendar and 90 days ago heavy fog for three days. Let’s see if it happens.
Bourg two is out and getting worked on I have quite a few V packers that are splitting maybe a dozen we have marked. Couple tires at the back and a few hoses. It’s getting a new anhydrous system and blockage. Drill one was new last fall so dealer has a few things to finish and it’s gone time. Oil changes happen this weekend when whole crew is home.
Most farmers are taking fert seed and Chem. deliveries. Seed cleaning is going full bore. Wheat done now onto peas then Barley. New varieties arriving but basically wheat nothing outstanding so it’s registered Starbucks and Connect Barley.
Canola I will stick with BASF then Pioneer and Dekalb but time will tell. Some new stuff is on its way.
The system for Fert production from USA is slow and not quite ready for major production so we might only buy a small system and test more before the big purchase.
Trudeau wants me to cut my fert well **** him this could be a way.
Grains green this morning we need this for all summer to stick.
Trip home I would say winter wheat in some states is best I have seen but less acres seem to have been seeded. Corn was up in the Delta that was seeded early.
My seeding intentions have changed to back to normal
5000 Canola
4000 HRS
600 peas
400 barley
No extra acres because nothing really changes in our area. Still looking to expand but nothing.
The new guy on the old Redland farm is looking like he is ready to go I wish him good luck. You’re not down south any more.
Big shake up by Hutts across the valley taking over lots of dirt.
Nice April fools joke from Ottawa on the useless Carbon tax and STF/NDP settle already it’s about the kids not politics.
My new employee is great two other companies offered him a job this week, he’s staying on the farm and will get his 1A in June. Now thanks to the Humboldt crash you pay up to $13,000.00 for the course and not 3300. That’s all that changed.
Who’s seeding already and what are others doing or changing in 2024.
Every time I seed in April it’s a wreck. Might try some early to see if the streak continues.
