Must be raining in cattle country out west . My 9 weight heifers sold well this week and my buyer thinks they will go to restock a ranch that had to reduce the herd the last couple of years.

Near ideal soil moisture where we started seeding. Think this land got 2.5 inches of rain but rest of the farm got 1.6 inches. It’s hilly and firm but just the right kind of moist underneath. Grass sure came on the last week and see lots of trailers on the road. I’ll admit I have enough ground and cows are running on growing barley stubble and prairie not grazed for a few years, and I won’t put cows on summer grass till June first. I can understand cow guys why they’re turning out early but god hold off another couple weeks and let the grass grow a bit. We floated oats on bush breaking in the pasture a couple weeks ago and a couple days ago when I checked it was emerging. Part of the reason I’m holding the cows off till June first so they have some oats to graze as well.
