Friday Crop Report on a Thursday Week 8.

Good morning off to the farm early and its misting. Typical spring morning but god this reminds me of 2002 or 2004. You know what happened that year. F R O S T.

Crop Report

We will hit the 80% mark tonight and I will join the second drill on Canola.

Province wide i would say 66% is seeded. The Trip to the West side on the weekend for the funeral i seen lots not even started. They are wet for a change but no sloughs yet so the ground is soaking every drop off.

Most Durum and HRS is seeded.

Flax some to still go.

Barley for malt is up and coming nice.

Peas and lentils are peaking out of the ground and growing slowly.

Early seeded wheat from April will be sprayed late next week.

Cool nights and cool days is delaying emergence.

No canola up yet but some will be soon.

Drove by a couple sections the neighbors put in almost a month ago, not up yet.

4 nights near zero this past week. Day highs like 12deg.

02 here, 0 crop, grass brown in June, trees died. Sears your brain that does.
Just canola left in this area, sitting this week out mostly. No sun from breakup on. Slime under stubble and loon crap spots never did disappear.
Only takes 2/10" to shut you down until you get sun. Which we don't.
Sowed in June before, not concerned. One solonetz area booking floaters.
Cool and dark, but no dust haha.

Haven’t done anything since week 7 crop report. Close to 3 inches of rain this past week and no sunshine at all!

I feel your frustration seldom, we have been trying to seed in between rains also. Coldest , cloudiest prob wettest May we have ever had. I just keep telling myself the best canola crop we ever grew was all seeded late May into June . At least these varieties now can withstand almost any crappy fall weather.

Ma Nature gives enough days somehow. This year she's going straight from April to June.

Definitely a possibility in some areas it could be June if one looks at the weather network for this area before things happen again

WAY too wet in our small area, 4" in May and cold, cloudy mistly humid, ZERO chance into fields for days, could hardly walk in the seeded mud.

We are closing in on 50% done here. Wheat and lentils are in. Started on canola this morning. Definitely the wettest and cloudiest may I can remember. Funny how I can pray for rain for the last 6 years all spring to this year wishing it away!

Not getting any rain here, 4mm since March. Finished seeding in April, grains are 4” high, but very uneven emergence since ground is so dry. Hard to say what this year will bring here.

Wet as snot here. Nothing moving. Worst May I have ever seen. Have seeded canola right at the end of May before but both those times it was harvested the following spring. Wheat that was mudded in is emerging slowly and looking decent where it has not drowned out. Called crop insurance to see if they are going to extend canola seeding deadline to June 5 like they have other years. They seemed clueless. Next year country.
