Friday Crop Report on a Thursday week 10

Well, it has finally been a wet week for us.

Cleaned, fixed and put away the drills.

Sprayer ready to go on peas after this wet spell.

Rocks still needed to be picked on a section.

Crop report.

Sask will be getting close to being done. 92% done.

Our area is 98% done

Farmers will be busy when it dries up with spraying getting rolling.

The last green feed will get planted panic crops.
The rain was welcomed by all.

Weekly rain 1.8 inches and total for the farm since may 1 is 3.2 to 4.1 inches.

with last falls rains we sure didn’t need the snow for this year.

CropAid year two to three on some is showing some things they say will happen, happening . Soil is healthy and mellow.

No water pooling like years ago yet.

our rain total last year was almost 13 inches from may to October.

You are spraying peas. Hell these chicks seeded beside me are like 1inch tall after being seeded more than a month ago. Very sluggish start to some of these pulses around here.

Pretty much same here. Not as advanced. Centurion pass on peas Sunday. Great rain. Some hail.

Finally last week the jump in size happened

70% done.

wind yesterday wasn't kind. 20ac of peas that are likely screwed. Either buried in blow dirt or blasted to nothing but a stem. Neighbors stuff busted out and started looking for a new postal code... bad. Teeth full of grit. Had to fill drills in the yard in the shelter of trees and bins as you couldn't physically hold onto the drill spout let alone get it to go in the hopper.

Still going on durum. its popping quickly right now. Long days!

Mustard will go in last. Hopefully the flea beetles have run their cycle by then. They're BUSY!

Grasshopper's are ungodly. 1st Tk will go out this morning. There'll likely be many more to follow. Can't say I've ever seen them this bad. Was hoping the cooler/wetter bias in May would slow them up, but to no avail. Perimeters and weedy hilltops from last year are the target, but I suspect we'll be into full field applications here in the next 10 days. Crop is young and VERY vulnerable right now. Is it just slow to come up, or getting ate off?

Flea beetles came alive yesterday attacking cabbage in garden. Canola will be on the menu. Things are just starting to dry up. Last of standing water leaving. Some stress in cereals, yellowing in wet area. Reseeding of canola drowned out again. Spraying will begin by Monday.

Have lentils , peas , wheat and canola ready to spray . Just need weather to cooperate now .

Best wheat in east Sask goes to KF farms with there early seeded wheat fist time in years seeding early looks that good.

Them there X9’s are great at picking rocks too….

Ur X9’s on the list to get new gears in the motor as well which involves yanking them out. Be sure if they are that ur there to inspect as many of the engines around here were ipsco worthy…..

Yes our X9s are getting the run through and we are there watching all the steps. Wait till the Case and NH are out this fall sure will be interesting.

Got my test plot fertilizer today its organically made 33-0-0 lets see if it works now.

Crop development desperately slow around here. Cold and cloudy with on and off rain for a week now. Days above 20 you could still count on one hand and you wouldn’t need your thumb.
Didn’t Chuck promise us nothing but heat and drought in our future?
Mother Nature has her own agenda regardless of what us humans do!

Imagine the cost to Deere, all those fuel tanks! What they worth? $20,000? Plus labor. Geez into new engines, best trade up to new. They still figuring them out. 75 years and still not correct? Come on Deere
