Finally getting some heat. Relations at High Level said they’re having a heat wave right now. Not bloody fair lol. Funny though yesterday was a bit warmer and today good, and boy did crops grow. We’re probably 2 weeks behind on development. Hired man getting bitchy cause he knows we’ll be combining wheat and cutting canola at same time. He gets stuck in swather.

At this stage canola and other crops are shallow rooted and behind in soggy ground. If we get and it's if we get a heat wave in late July and early August it won't take much to burn some of this crop if it turns dry. Least that is what will happen on our lighter soils.

When the roots hit the dry soil zone this year it's all over, unless it rains weekly . Which will be a pain for cattle and hay guys.

Fingers crossed we are north of that big rain later this week. Right now the forecasters don’t have much predicted for our area.
I sure hope that holds true because our crop can’t handle any more rain. It’s already yellow and sick from rain and cold temps.

Just up to Meadow Lake for a function to tonight. Makwa Meadow area sure waterlogged. Crops look yellow, ruts in fields. It’s a mess. At least this big rain should mostly miss them as it will our area.
