Thought I would ask an insurance question for the Saskatchewan guys. I’m outside of Yorkton and I hit a deer in mid April. Did about $20,000 in damage to a 21 GMC denali. It damaged the front right side, but doesn’t look too bad although I know everything has gotten ridiculously expensive. Anyways I took to a small town shop where we have gotten our SGI work done before, and they still haven’t even started on it after 2 months, claiming they are waiting for parts. Is this normal? Can you really still not get parts for a mainstream popular truck? Or is it a problem at our local shop? I’m kind of at my wits end, it was hard getting through seeding without it and now I’m doubtful I’ll have it for harvest.

It is common. Waited for a hood for my 2016 gmc and a front headlight to get repaired for 3 months. Parts availability was the excuse. They can still blame the pandemic. Or a ship getting caught in a canal in the Middle East. Any excuse works for them. The bridge that got hit will work as well.
The other problem is the garbage that they build , a sparrow can do $4500 damage.

Had an enlightening chat with my insurance broker yesterday. My premium went up $400 for the year, no changes to my record. She laughed and said my rate is the best anyone could ever hope for at $1900/year for a loaded 2022 F-350. Next closest comparison was Intact insurance at $3450. The list kept climbing. I asked where Wawanesa was on the list, she scrolls down, $8450/year.
I asked how people are making it work. She said they aren't. She has a single mom of 2 that was letting her insurance expire last night because it went to $5k a year and she can't afford the monthly payment anymore. I said don't people shop around for their insurance; she said 95% never do, they stick with same company and policy for life. She said you're one of the very few old school that still pays lump sum premium, that's so rare nowadays. Everyone is monthly payments.Last edited by 15444; Jul 4, 2024, 07:37.
