Extreme Frost damaged fields from June are trying but major yield potential is gone.

With the amount of moisture and humidity not spraying could be way worse than actually spending. Its only July 4 Th. We had wheat sprayed for midge years ago Monday after craven! That's over a week away it will be headed by then

Last night there was Hail damage south of town

Next week hot and humid could be interesting.

Mild hail north of town.

First wheat just starting to poke out of the boot, canola all bolting and a few flowers starting to show. Fungicide application will get busy late next week, hope the planes can keep up, not wanting to run the skinnies and rut things up this year with the 10 plus inches of rain we’ve had so far. Crops look very promising so far this year.

This isn't a massive crop it will be a lot less than last year for us.

It will be less for us also. On a differant topic our daughter in law went into labour 12 weeks early and twin boys arrived, both weighing less than 3 lbs each.They will be in the general in regina for at least three months.Went today for a first visit and i cant say enough of the work the doctors and nurses do to keep this tiny little babies alive.They are the real heroes in my eyes,and after visiting the childrens ward our farming problems are nothing compared to what these young children and there families are going tru.

Had to get stitched up on Tuesday morning, the nurses have to deal with a constant parade of OD and whacked out patients on a daily basis here its sad.
one across the hall had 3 stab wounds , completely baked out and how those nurses handled that guy was truly wonderful.
the patience and professionalism they showed was truly impressive.

Crop report for West Central alberta.
In spite of multiple frosts in May and again in mid to late june, rain everyday during the end of seeding, no rain between late May and late June, way behind on heat and incessant wind, things look good but late.

My early canola froze, a few low areas with lots of straw cover we're nearly wiped out everything else recovered eventually. Later canola froze even worse in mid june. When we had four mornings in a row with frost on the windshields. Plants turned brown in most of the lower areas or straw covered areas. But most plants recovered and came back. Just way behind. Even the wheat had frosted tips later in june.

Wheat and barley look very good, but far behind the last few years.
What looked like a good year for hay crops has evaporated. Very little moisture in April and the first half of May and all of June with was not a recipe for good hay crops. There are a few exceptions.

I see a lot of very late seeded crops around. In our immediate area there's still a lot that is yet to be seeded or possibly was seeded when it was so dry and has yet to emerge? Lots of green feed silage and swathgrazing around here so there's still time. Just not sure why it would be so late when it has been so dry.

Some very patchy crops as well. Not quite clear why, but in my case When it was raining every day in late may I seeded quite shallow, then it quit raining and had hurricane winds everyday so there were a few seeds stranded in the dust. That is in no till with a lot of ground cover. So I can easily see full tillage being too dry to germinate in places.
