Good morning. It's off to spray fungicides, and a little N is needed for extra support.
Everything is finally straightening out with the heat.
Rain last week is 2 in up to 4 in our area.
There are lots of yellow spots in the fields and water.
Grain prices are dropping faster than Trudeau in the polls.
Crop report.
Hrs and Durum. Full head down to the flag. Thick and doing great. Spraying of fungicides and last N for Protein in potential big yield crop. I said potential because if it freezes in August, it's ****ed all of it.
Flax has filled in and is ready to flower. It will be a sea of blue next week.
Barley is headed or just finishing. All were sprayed with fungicide, and mushrooms can even be seen growing in the fields this year between the rows.
Oats is just about ready to head and looking good.
Peas and lentils don't like water, and yellow spots have appeared. Fields that never had peas are a 10. Fields seeded every eight years a 9. Fields seeded every six but were seeded for years every four are a 6.
Pulse boards may look at diseases instead of new areas to grow.
Lentils took off with heat.
Canola is all over the board from full bloom, with ten on worked pea ground and six on heavy wheat straw fields with lots of frosts. June frost hurt, but they are slowly filling in. Less straw, less frost, go figure.
Premature bolting from excess water is happening.
First-cut hay operations are full go now that the rain has stopped. Looks thick.
Pastures are doing well so far.
It's all coming along nicely, but one cool night in August is all for not. So don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Have a great week. Ag in motion is next week hope to see you all there.
