Wheat lodging here with no heads emerged. No weight in the heads.
Might not be a big deal if it gets hot and dry but if a thunderstorm goes by in the next month lots will be down.

Crops have gone from looking great to wow what the hell happened. Barley burning up, canola stands shrinking and now hoppers are getting Hungary. We had cool weather last year that allowed crops to mature slowly. Next two weeks will be the final nail in the coffin I’m afraid .

In my area the canola will be a complete disaster by the end of next wk … it’s almost there already.
Even the lower spots are ugly! Can’t see there being many pods at the end.
Cereals are taking a beating also. Wavey and white pretty much sums it up. When the chickpeas are shutting down already, there is a serious problem out there.
At the end we have no control of anything including prices. Take it and suck it up. The hurt is just around the corner for some.

Looks like prices are moving on the weather?
More buyers than sellers?Last edited by shtferbrains; Jul 19, 2024, 08:32.

Judging by the forecast now, early seeded will win this year….. by a landslide. Surprised later canola is even flowering. But it’ll power out in couple days when this relentless heat takes its toll.
Estimates for our farm dropped 25%. May have to adjust further.
