Wow, it’s Ag In Motion week the heat is turning up and very little rain in the forecast for a few days.
On the drive up to Langham I have to say for the first time in years is the nicest I have seen crops looking. Yes, the heat is going to take canola yield but the market has dreams of a massive crop so they are maybe not going to get their way.
Ok I'm busy so here it is
Crop report
Hrs is still looking good and past fully headed on early. Most has been sprayed in our area and we are now top-dressing some last N and fungicides on late-seeded wheat. We are also using the new fertilizer that's made on-site on headed wheat to see if it can lift protein.
Barley has been headed for a couple of weeks and looks good.
Our area is an exception more barley than normal.
Flax is in full bloom and tall.
Durum looks good and a few more guys are back to seeding it again. In our area.
Peas are great to shitty depending on rotation and if you are pushing it.
Lentils have lots of plant mass not sure about yield potential.
Canola is almost all blooming and some is in the last days.
Some fungicides went on others just didn't do that this year. With heat coming it wasn't worth it last year when the heat hit. Even if we had 13 in in growing season.
Peas look great all the way to langham. Nice and tall and healthy.
Other please tell about your area!
