Last night was the first this month that we didn't hit the dew point in the overnight.
Just after the sun went down was the first time you could smell this crop as well... Like freshly cut hay. By mid next week, there wont be much left here. Surface moisture is non-existant, subsoil went into this year depleted.
There's durum up to your elbows that is turning white as heads abort. To think... 2 weeks ago, I was contemplating a bagger! Grain buyers pressuring to lock in bushels saying prices are expected to fall further yet... Yea, ok... You got act of god? How bout send your high priced agrologists/agronomists out and tell me what's a fair number to "pre sell"? I'm weather tight storage poor here at the moment, and capable of storing a 15bu/ac across the board crop. The only one I see putting pressure on that number is peas. And those peas? They were gunning for 50+, but pods that were 6 and 7 peas are now down to 2, 3, or 4 max, with the top pods aborting altogether. Leaf burn and bottom stem burn is prevalent on every crop out there. They're hurting!
Good luck lads and lasses. Get your ducks in a row! At least for now, it looks like depressed prices are going to accompany lackluster bushels.
