    Parsley CP;

I think we should be much more concerned about the Russian, Chinese, Iranian, Turkish, and US military buildup in the eastern-middle-east... and Iranian insistance to blow Isreal to Kingdom Come.

In my small mind... it will be a miracle if we make it through 2007... without Iran trying to pull this off.

"'DEVASTATING RESPONSE' IF IRAN NUKES ATTACKED

    February 26, 2007

WorldNetDaily.com reports: “Iran is anticipating a U.S. or Israeli military strike on its nuclear facilities and has been providing Palestinian terrorists and other regional allies with contingency plans for attacks against the Jewish state and American regional interests in the event of war, according to Palestinian terrorist leaders.

A senior leader of the Islamic Jihad terror group, which Israel says is backed by Iran, told WND Tehran is expecting to be attacked, but he didn't provide a time frame in which Iran anticipates a strike.

He claimed during any attack his organization has been directed by Iran to ‘wreck havoc’ on Israel with suicide bombings, rocket attacks and ‘special surprises.’ He said rocket attacks would be launched from both the Gaza Strip and from the West Bank, which borders Jerusalem.

He threatened his terror group will target American interests in the Middle East whether any purported strike against Tehran is carried out by Israel or the U.S.

‘The Zionists and the Americans are coordinated 100 percent. It doesn't matter who attacks Iran, we are planning to hit them both,’ said the Islamic Jihad leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said the topic was ‘very sensitive.’

He said overall Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shallah has been coordinating war plans with Iran, Syria and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah Lebanese militia. Shallah resides in Damascus and travels frequently to Tehran.

Abu Ahmed, the northern West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror organization, told WND all major Palestinian militant organizations are preparing to work together in the event Iran is attacked…”

Now what risk management strategy do we apply to our farm inputs and grain sales to cover off this situation CP?

I have heard even many Democrats are privately agreeing with a US Draft for 100,000 more troops.

I'm not "up" on all the different arguments around climate change like some of you but Cottenpicken, here's a direct reference to Gore's movie:

Gore says once Greenland sheds its ice, the oceans will rise 20 feet.

The UN (IPCC) says 8 to 18 inches.

So, why is Gore's movie so important? Is it good science? No. One reason - it's bringing attention to the issue by the masses who haven't a clue about the environment. And climate change or no climate change, that's not a bad thing.

CP, what’s with the strawman, having questions about Y2Kyoto claims means that we automatically throw garbage out the window? By the same logic, maybe you should stop stealing candy from children because you support the Kyoto wealth transfer scheme.

I am planning on watching that movie eventually, but the waiting list at the library is pretty long. If you read those National Post articles cited above, you’d do yourself a service. In the meantime, there are a few questions that need answering.

Why are there huge financial incentives to go with the UN flow, and professional harassment of “deniers”?

The biggest most glaring question I have is – If greenhouse gases are as serious a problem as what we are told by (approved) UN scientists, fruit fly biologists and Al Gore, why are China and India exempted from Kyoto emissions targets? Only CO2 produced in the west harms the atmosphere???
A rational person would have to ask the question - is it a global crisis that needs immediate action or not? If it’s not serious enough to curtail everyone’s greenhouse gas production, why are we in such a hurry to ruin our own economy via Kyoto. If belching out those millions of tonnes of CO2 is so bad, why are we going to send money to developing nations so that they can spend that money to belch out CO2.

Methinks something smells rotten in the state of Denmark.

I’d rather see money spent on real conservation measures in our own country, that are measurable and effective.

Tom4cwb, good article on mars. When i first started reading it i thought it was going to tell me that if we dont sign Kyoto that Mars is going to turn into another sun and melt us into oblivion...

Seriously, this whole climate-change religion is really out of touch with any kind of reality. Its the classic case of "heres the impending doom, be afraid....now do what i tell you no questions asked or you will labeled a 'denier'"

Al Gore.....how the bleep does this guy crown himself the icon for greenies? It almost seems to me that one reason he has become popular is because "hey, i ran against Bush and was almost president, so if you hate Bush support my wack Global Warming crusade"

Kyoto is hardly mentioned in the documentry.
There is no debate about global warming and its causes no matter how many quacks you find quotes from.
This isnt about wealth transfer its, simply about finding and implementing solutions to a problem.
Parsly what the hell do you mean preaching to the converted?I love your self righteous description of how hard you work to save the environment but cannot bring it upon yourself to challenge your buddies here.
How can any of you criticize something you havent even seen?Come on!!!
Chinas vehicle emmissions are ahead of ares for christ sakes.
Seems like theres a whole lot of albertan self interest here.

Tom,interesting thing about iran maybe we should start a fresh thread on it.My sources are saying iran is a definate go,likly spring. The us has eight of twelve carrier strike groups moving into position.Russia and china arnt to happy and russia has even sent some special forces into iran along with state of the art defence systems. The obvious focal point will be the strait of hormuz where something like 40-50% of the worlds oil flows(?).I cant see how any of this is negative for grain.

What about aiming at the worst CO2 belches?

If you want to make a REAL change in emmissions in your own province, call Saskatchewan Power Corporation. They are the # 3 polluter of CO2 in the entire country.

“There is no debate about global warming and its causes” …..

That’s the problem CP, you don’t want to listen to anything that disagrees with your preconceived notions. Agreeing or disagreeing does not change science fact, and proving those facts should not be discouraged just because they disagree with someone’s predetermined policy, ON EITHER SIDE.

“no matter how many quacks you find quotes from.“

Some of those “quacks” were on the IPCC until their professional ethics got in the way of UN agenda.

Are we all supposed to watch a Hollywood documentary, and mock anyone whose findings don’t go in lockstep with it conclusions? On the other hand, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems that you won’t even look at anything if it doesn’t have the Gore seal of approval. Read the 10 part series from the National Post, and prove me wrong.

CP, saying there is no debate on global warming and the theory behind its man-made causes is absolutely beyond crazy. Since when has any scientific theory ever been above being questioning?
It was once "scientific" to believe that the the earth was at the center of our solar system. It was once "scientific" to believe that the earth was flat. If everyone just blindly believed those theories without question, where would we be today?

                      Sorry sir,
if we sit here for another 15 years debating IF global warming is actually happening like we have for the past 15 years... it will be too late.

We have had peer reviewed scientists telling us for years about the consequences and on the other side big oil money was funding the Naysayers with fellows like Mr. Tim Ball (no peer review for 20 years) their spokesman.

I have watched the Gore movie. I actually saw it when it first came out. It's rubbish as is the man made warming hypothesis. There are far to many holes in it and far to much evidence to the contrary for it to be credible.

I've been looking at the evidence presented by both sides for years now. There is tonnes of it out there for anyone who cares to look.

The climate changes, it always has and it always will. Sacrificing any number of virgin SUV's into a volcano isn't going to make any more diference now than it did way back when it was women thrown into the pit to appease the gods.

                          Mustardman,
                          Sorry Sir,
Lets say your right and in 15 years the earth becomes uninhabitable. Have you ever calculated what you, personally, along with everyone else in this country would have to do between now and then to reduce our c02 emmissions to levels that would begin reducing the greenhouse effects of co2?
Have you ever researched exactly what greenhouse gases are composed of?
Well lets start with the biggest one. Water vapour, whats that you say? Its not c02? Actually water vapour composes 95% of all greenhouse gases. With c02 taking a close second at 5%. With only a percentage of that c02 actually being credited to man-made sources.
On another note, assuming most people who post here on agriville live in western Canada, we understand how cold winters here can be. Would a couple degrees of increased temperatures be bad for us or could it actually be beneficial to have an extra couple weeks of frost free weather in the spring and fall? I guess thats not the PC thing to talk about though.
