Everything the political parties do is calculated for what is best for them.
      And definitely goes for unions

Had the VIA go past burning up the tracts at 30 mph carrying their 4 passengers so no rust here and a short train 10 tank cars maybe chem for water treatment.

          30 mph.
This line usually 40+ depending on how wet it is.
Their bed in places gets saturated.
Main CN north of here 55+. They move along.

Union might be on an Unannounced work to rule?

Would require no effort to make things slow down.

Just a normal day for some.

65 years ago my dad was a track Forman, he told me efficiency or working to make a profit was a foreign concept to the rr. Prime example when I bought grain the rr spotted me 40 ton boxcars but hauled 100 ton hoppers another 20 miles on a 60 lb rail to be loaded 1/2 full. The sorting yard was 30 miles away.

To those that understand what I am talking about I loaded 265 grain cars in 1980, 2/3 boxcars 2/3 of them 40 short ton while watching 1/2 full new hoppers pass by. Did 5 times the work and moved shit for grain. Took hour to load a 100 ton hopper and 2 to load a 40 ton boxcar.

I couldn't imagine emptying those thousands of box cars...maybe that's why the longshoreman were always on strike.

On thing is for sure, with the current slowdown, the maintenance crews could be fixing some crossings with few delays.

Remember helping neighbor load producer car (box car) with oats. Augar stuck in the door shoveling dusty oats against the walls to get a load. He was getting a whopping .97 cents a bushel and happy to get rid of them .

. Better than in the dirty 30s. Neighbor loaded a car of oats and got a bill because the oats never covered the freight bill. He wrote the RR a letter stating I have no money but have more oats. Last he heard of it.

Remember, the Board was in charge of car allocation. And deliveries.
Some history is hard to even imagine today.
