Friday Crop Report on a Thursday Week 22

Almost done in SW Sask. Everything is yielding half or less than what it looks. Getting some durum samples back and it makes you puke. Worst sample was 348 g/hl and 20% protein

Cutting canola. It ain’t worth crap. Can’t understand guys desicating 20 bu crops with $15 helicopters and $20 heat and glyphosate to straight cut. Got over an inch of rain through the night and was swathing by 4 pm without so much as a tire track in the stubble.

I can get what wheat will yield with math, and pretty good on barley and peas but canola except for the pod from fingers to shoulder I never get it right.

Big pods on bottom then a blank 3 days and little pods on top.

It's no 2023 real big crop for sure.

Got done our barley good weight and .4 vom but with high humidity was not quite dry so its on air 1.5 inches this week . Oats next and canola sprayed and sons late seeded wheat is turning . Had bad pump day yesterday blew drive axel pump on swather and water pump on truck . Rainy days are for fixing around this place

There is a bigger problem going on with the wheat than most think
sawfly in areas and here we have identified Hessain Fly damage, and it’s bad in pockets

Took 10 bushel / ac on one 1/2 section. , and is all through area
The pockets with infestation yeilds are off 50% or higher and the quality in those areas is terrible

Later seeded canola mid-may. Its not even close to last years big big yields. Sask canola crop isn't impressive.
