We always used to say combine a bit in August then do most of it in October! September wasn’t a combine month.
I really enjoy a dry September and all my crops off in the bin dry. Yields weren’t the best, the results of spring flooding followed by a real dry summer.

With two more systems yet to come in over the next 14 days harvest progress will be near zero till the end of September possibly

We run a old combine by todays standards so if we can combine we combine. I too have seen those 2 sept. combine days. With cattle and grain that can make OCT. very stressfull. Most canola went in bins at 8-9 moisture as low as 6.7.

I’m surprised we got as much off in September as we did considering we didn’t have anything ready until September. Either you start in August or October. I binned a few hundred acres of canola at 6 to 8% moisture. This will come in handy.

We’ve mixed 12% or more canola with dry many years to keep the combines moving. This year with no canola off yet might have to do this with wheat the next couple of days. Next week doesn’t look promising so blending some wet wheat with dry could be an option, most of our wheat was taken off below 12%.
