    Inputs , machinery

This needs to be brought up
Don’t care if new or used , it’s ridiculous as far as machinery
Inputs are ridiculous as well given 90% of yields is western Canada

But apparently absolutely no one give an absolute shite

Train wreck coming very very shortly

Big companies have it figured out. They just lay everyone off for a couple of years till we wear enough equipment out that we will pay any amount. Look at Deere and Brandt. They have no plans of reducing prices.

Inputs and machinery spending will be down in '25. Thinking of dropping canola and sitting on a bit of inventory. Wheat and barley with reduced fertilizer. I am happier with 12% pro wheat than 16%. Did not waste fertilizer $ on worthless grain protein. May summerfallow some for oats in 26. Oat straw worth a bit around here as feed.

I have an inside on some actual industry metrics. If my actual cost of machinery per acre is well below the average or so I'm told, then the average is in for an education.

I think its time to get out before we are all taken to the train station.

Poor 1/4 we put up hay up on a few years ago cause grains guy never got crop in sold for $ 300000.00 last month. Maybe a so so pasture 1/4. If you are thinking of jumping ship now is likely a good time to do it.

I'm almost afraid to sell anything, money is loosing value at an astonishing rate. Replacement costs are out of this world.

Land prices on CLH the last couple of days showing much needed restraint. Most interesting was $620K for a full quarter section along hwy 28 west of Redwater with SLR. Watched nice quarters east of here in the Viking, Two Hills, Irma area making around the $1M range for most of the last two years until now. Paging FCC.

This year we planted with income earned in previous years, the following year(s) will be the deal breaker. We have the highest rail freight rates ever! Will inputs come down? Something has to give!

The new combine platforms are all well over $1 million dollars. Many BTO’s trading in 6 buying 4 or similar ratios. Who will buy the influx of trades? Maybe there will be some moderation in used combines for the smaller operators.

On a side note I was talking to my canola seed salesman he said Basf was planning to raise Invigor seed prices 3-4%, Dekalb playing catch up apparently plans to raise theirs by a higher percentage! Are these companies ****ing crazy?!?!
