Showers are forecast for tomm for our area, this is really starting to drag out.Anyone who swathed has been finished for awhile , they were able to start earlier in the year and run longer days and faster speed. If i had the manpower to run swather we would have been done long ago also. This waiting on standing canola i am not sure is the answer.

Always seems there's cattle stuff to do when combines can't roll. Bales to haul ,put haying equipment away bring spreaders up to shop to prep for corral cleaning. FIX FIX FIX Son's working drowned out spots in canola ground to work down weed spots. Pre pass might be more popular on the farm next spring. Beans are loving this weather last field of wheat not so much.

Time wastes away in years like this.

Waiting for a better tomorrow turns into days.
          Days turn into weeks.
          The days keep getting shorter.
Soon 4 hrs will be a good day.

Glad we took the 6.5 -7% moisture canola off when we did…

Same here , now looking to move dry grain that we have cooled out of air bins . Might need them as rain forecasted for early tomorrow morning again

Half done wheat. All dry and nearly all standing, or at least not flat on the ground. I could get used to this. Rained out on thursday, just barely got back at it today and rained out again. Looks like late seeded for the win yet again. Didn't see that one coming with the year we had. The earliest seeded wheat that we started on had very small seeds even though there was lots of big heads. Later stuff has much plumper seeds and the yield reflects that.

-minus 3 a couple of nights ago still some quite green patches in the later canola that froze in June and was set back by weeks. Still a few flowers even. So far doesn't appear to have damaged it.
As an added bonus, canola patches that burnt up in late July early August are now in full flower again. Maybe with all this global warming and hottest year ever it won't freeze until Christmas and those spots will make it.
Street cut some of the earliest seeded canola, no worse than expected, big seed size may have somewhat made up for the lack of pods.

Make that 3 weeks with the forecast. Rest pretty good chance of the spring frosted crap spring threshing. Not that on single digit yields it matters.

Got going on canola yesterday started at 10.9 ended up at 10.1, light rain this morning no chance of going today. Hopefully tomorrow the sun comes out. Looks like a good chunk of Saskatchewan and Alberta received this rain.

                      Canola 9.8 down to 9.4 by 5pm..Spit of rain....1mm

Go tomorrow. After 1.4" last week, ZERO green, plumper seeds!

Less loss, cleaner sample, all better.

Standing around here still not ready to combine.

Wonder if Rd'up working? Lots of weeds.

                      Swathed weed seeds all dry.

Yea, one combine went down sept 9, and dad banged away with his for a couple of shortish days after that, then there's been nothing here since the 11th. Absolutely glistening with dew every morning, and it seems you get one good drying day, then fog, or drizzle, or a 3 or 4 tenth shower... Forecast always looks "promising", but it never seems to get even to the "tough" range. Im not taking 18.5 and 19 cereals in september... That opinion will change if it drags into October, but my god does that generate a pile of extra work.

newer combine has a fully rebuilt PTO in it, now chasing anything else that might present a problem. There WILL NOT be time for down time going forward. I can rest assured that there will be some, but every hour is going to count from here on in.

Mustard is going to need to be forced to die... Stupid shit was drought and bug stressed nearly all year, and now it thinks it should try and flower again.

So long as I dont have to listen to christmas music on siriusxm during the last bit of harvest like we did in 2016 I'll be happy.

Got the Gates coulter harrow going yesterday, straw still not dry but thought I would give it a go
worked better than expected so did 500 ac . Even though we shaved the ground there are too many areas of logged stems that were flat to the ground .
Can’t leave that for seeding outfits in spring , so chew er up now , not much snow catch anyway with the stubble that’s there

Furrow if I remember correctly you have a Seedmaster and a Bourgault on 12 inch spacing. Is the Seedmaster the reason for not leaving the stubble standing? Or the improved moisture conditions?

Not this year , it’s just the best way to with lodges straw this fall
tge Only issue with the seed master comes from spray tracks or lodged straw
if it was nice even standing stubble , we would not touch it

50% of the wheat was lodged flat , also random lodged areas in every field
headers worked awesome but depending on direction it was impossible to get 100 % of the lodged areas
