It must be because the terminal feels guilty stealing 5% of the value. Sry but I find that hard to believe unless there was some other issue.

I did an experiment. Same canola field, 2 different samples. One tested 10.2% moisture, the other tested 6.4%. I did a bushel weight test on both using a half litre cup and an old fashioned beam gram scale. The 10.2 was a 51.2 lb. bushel, the 6.4 was a 52 lb. bushel. I was very surprised.

Makes sense, higher the moisture the lower the test weight will be. Picture the old circular batch dryers, as it dried the grain level would go down.

Difference between L340 and L345. For pod drop in these winds .

Can’t really tell from your post which had better pod integrity. Realistically both are are not included in BASF’s 2025 lineup, I am guessing because they only have first gen. clubroot protection. My money is on 345 having better pod integrity.

We had 345 and 340. Some pod drop from the 340 and lower yield. Had a pioneer variety in that was supposed to be shatter something and it ended up on the ground when the pods were still green. Immature seeds, loss was quite high. 345 would be choice for next season, will be pissed if not available. Did not look at any others.

                  L356 shells/pod drop much worse than L340

If 340 drops more pods. It must grow a lot more pods. 2 plants/square foot have good roots.

Lol you are correct, apparently I can’t read. I was biased by what my supplier had said earlier this year that this was the last year for L345. Personally I have concluded Invigor canola is too high priced so I shop elsewhere. I grew all round up ready varieties this year, side by side with my neighbour that grows all Invigor and there was no yield advantage with Invigor. Just higher cost.

Our 350 was worst in pod drop, followed by 356 and 345 being best. 356 was best yielding. We did have some Pioneer P520L side by side with L356 . The pioneer variety for sure had more shelling/ pod drop but yielded every bit as well. L340 was the poorest on our farm. My big beef is BASF's programming that makes it difficult to consider generic herbicides because you need X liter's of Liberty per acre to trigger bigger rebate. For years we bought extra totes of cheaper generic Glufosinate to have on hand because of shortage where BASF couldn't supply Liberty. Liberty price is supposed to be going down for next year? I guess we will see.

Closing in on last of my super late seeded durum.

Yield is as good or better than earlier seeded, and wasnt cured when the last 2+" rain event occurred. Weird to be combining thoroughly rinsed cereals that look as good as the stuff we took off at the beginning of harvest.

                          Small victories.

Price is coming up slowly... elevators appear to be passing each $5/Mt increase nearly 100% to the farmer.

"Wouldnt it be nice if it didnt matter" or "this game isnt for the faint of heart of sane of mind"
