do the Dun peas have a steady demand? We grew them few years back but couldnt sell them very easily, the feed lots had concerns about the tannin? or at least some did and the others were always full and couldnt take. They grew well and stood up very good so was dissappointed we couldnt sell easily so never grew again

I was considering growing Dun peas a few years back, but was damn near impossible to find seed. If I recall there was a significant premium and they stand and yield well. Would like to hear others thoughts on them who have grown them before. What is the market like, is there more than 1 buyer.

Market for Dun peas is really hit and miss. Australian product is generally preferred and when we do have demand its a discount to maple market. So i generally view maple peas as the better option.

Dave is right, dun peas are wonderful agronomically, but they really do follow yellow peas. At yellow pea price we can find buyers.
Sometimes when maple peas are very short, they have a slight window as a substitute, and yes there is small specific demand from China for dun from Canada, but as a rule we trade at a discount to Australian dun mostly because our shipping costs are higher. At the moment we have interest in dun peas at yellow pea price.
