    AGAIN WE MISSTHE BOAT!

Again we missed the boat, US president Bush is in Brazil signing a Ethanol deal with the Brazilians.
But the powers that be seem to think that we have to study this before we take advantage of it.
For years farmers have been kicked in the Head in Western Canada, Ethanol and Bio Diesel were in the Works in USA and most farmers seen that this was maybe the New world for farming they were going to be short supply and we could supply it. Using our crops to produce fuel and not food.
Well since very little has happened on the Canadian front for ethanol by farmer owned facilities. It looks like we again will be suppliers of a product and not owners of facilities.
With the US looking south for their needs were finished on this one and why Because stupidity in Ottawa by bureaucrats who don't understand commerce. If the giant farts make a fart machine don't study how we can fart less to compensate for the giants gas.
    WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Middle of March, we will all know where Canada is at in terms of renewable energy. All that can be done is done, now we wait.

Brazil has been producing ethanol since the 70's, one of the first countries. It is either sign the deal or the fuel gets dumped in. It is called inventory control.

In the propsed US farm bill, farmers are asking for an additional $0.44 per gallon to make a total incentive of $1.44. That is of even more concern for Canada and WTO because it makes the direct farm subsidy look less and dealt under the guise of energy. It will affect infrastructure development in Canada.

Wish I had more positive to post.

        Cropduster,

I believe the US simply did what they had to do. If Iran pulls the plug on the middle eastern oil supplies... the US MUST tie up as much fuel as possible to winter the storm of loosing 30-40% of the supply. Brazil is a simple strategic move that is smart.

Take a deep breath... there is enough market for all of us. CWB Grainworld recognition that corn drives the wheat market now... are sound.

The only likely senario that would knock the bottom out of this grain market would be a meltdown of the world economy... that reduced oil consumption by some fantastic amount very quickly.

Otherwise... we are on the right boat... and on the highest value boat!
