Cretien-Martin did cut a lot of ag money, proportionately more than Harper, but as it was more judiciously targeted and the provinces often stepped in, the effect was less. Harper closed up shop and sold the site. To his credit, before Covid, Trudeau was slowly building back. In any case, varietal research is a machine that prints money and it would be stupid to cut it.
