Wish A and B, great, but also standard contracts. With C be careful what you wish for. The last Con gov't cut ag funding in half. We lost several research sites( 60,000+ plots), comparable numbers of staff( breeders, lab people...), an international voice of advocacy, and were set back roughly 5 years.

If the conservatives get in there will be lots of fat to trim in many departments. Maybe even cut departments created by Trudeau. In my opinion it was wrong that ag research was cut but other than that cutting the pfra was a long time coming. That all said the cretien liberals hacked a lot more ag funding than anyone. NAFTA was a convenient excuse. Funny how supply management seemed to weather it all.

Cretien-Martin did cut a lot of ag money, proportionately more than Harper, but as it was more judiciously targeted and the provinces often stepped in, the effect was less. Harper closed up shop and sold the site. To his credit, before Covid, Trudeau was slowly building back. In any case, varietal research is a machine that prints money and it would be stupid to cut it.

I know my lifetime wish for Constitutional reform is long in the tooth and highly improbable as every politician thinks of the next vote, not the long term. My practical list:
The coalition that rejected the sustainable platform will continue the dialogue. Western Canada is entirely different from Eastern Canada.

Ag policy needs a rigorous think tank.

            Merry Christmas.
An extension to that would be that MPs ask Canadians for a raise instead of voting for one themselves. Every union contract is negotiated . Maybe they should be put in front of the labour relations board and see if they are worth the money they are paid.

For most MPs that is the best job they will ever have and a gold plated pension.

$51000 a month in alcohol for Joly??????
