DYODD. It is highly unlikely you’re getting 3 lbs per gallon. Definitely getting some but unable to determine the exact amount. Relying on it as your sole N requirement could be disasterous. Using the right water to make the product is critical

32.5% urea DEF freezes at about 12°F. -11°C
I would still be concerned about its stability and ability to hold its nitrogen concentration, what ever that may be, if it wasn't stored in air tight storage. Even sodium hypochlorite(bleach) degrades over time.Last edited by farmaholic; Dec 29, 2024, 19:07.

If this was ever a viable option why isn't it already being done?
I would think we're far enough down the road of technological advances that this "concept" isn't a new discovery.
To expensive if there was any market for the electricity.
Some new designs proposed to zero the Co2 but need nuclear reactor type power supply.
This unit runs on a 110 volt 15 amp breaker 1100 watts.
??????About the same power draw as your toaster?

If they could get nitrogen fixing biologicals to work, I think that would be a better option. Although, I thought I read that there has been no meaningful progress on that front either.
In fact, Custom Agricultural Intelligence, based in Sedley and Regina are having a complete dispersal through McDougall Auctions. I can't say I know what they were doing there but someone I asked said he thought they were working on biologicals. Maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in. I'd like to see biologicals as a real option.
Regarding that auction, there is some larger scale water treatment equipment for sale if someone wants to treat water for the production of Green Lightening fertilizer.

Sounds like hocus pocus juice, there has been many come and go. I would like to see a trial on a field with relativity low residual N from a soil test, half with the same cost per acre in the magic piss vs. Conventional N.
Then the story will be oh its a soil enhancement thing that takes a few years to perform. A few years later the RB signs go up for the farmer and a few years after that the dealer. Seen it before.Last edited by biglentil; Dec 28, 2024, 22:50.
