Have a great trip Furrow!
The best part of touring around Germany when my Mrs took me a while ago was different beer and bratwurst in every town we stopped in. We have no concept of what “old buildings” mean just like they have no concept of distance and “far away” mean

stayed on a couple of farms in Germany and visited one for a day in Switzerland.
All tenant farmers it seems. Guy I stayed with just signed a 18 yr lease/rent agreement. Was in process of building a new house on rented land. His family had leased it for 3 generations him being the third.

Agree it makes sense , what bugs me is for us to sell canola into Europe grain companies make us sign contracts with several clauses about stewardship.
Can’t push a tree over , can’t drain wetlands, can’t do this , can’t do that .
Western Canadian Ag is the model of sustainable farming.

Wow, that architecture is amazing. Thank You very much for sharing. It is a crime how we destroy our history. Not one original elevator left around here.
A rented car is a great way to roam around. We were amazed to go into the Supermarchets in France and see eggs unrefrigerated sitting on store counters and the house flies allowed in the fresh meat displays.Last edited by sumdumguy; Jan 7, 2025, 06:14.

I love being a tourist in Europe, and Brugge is incredible! We were told it was not bombed in the 2nd world war because it was so beautiful. I hope you tried a few dozen of the 400 beers they offer! And found the oldest bar in the city! The chocolate is to die for, we even found chocolate penis' (I digress!)
Traveling is essential to appreciate how we have developed an innovative agricultural industry here. As Farmers, we all face challenges related to climate and our unique geographies. We made the best of ours in so many ways. Our challenges continue, as today, our high-cost production will challenge profitability and competitiveness. We must lead the future of sustainable food & feed ingredients.
Enjoy your trip! You will come back and appreciate your ancestors more for migrating. Today, we need to keep Canada a good place to be: profitable and competitive, and our sector leading the future of food, livestock included.
Enjoy your trip!
