Sask is about 3% of the population of Canada. This has caused many to think we do not get enough day in our country.Yet to go to .3 % of the population of America is the answer??? Trump is just deflecting on all his promises that he can not deliver on.Can you imagine how senile he will be in 4 years ? Republicans need to step up and do what people elected them for.Economy and imigration and quit blaming it on the other countries to fix your problem.

Elizabeth May commented on this and said something smart for the first time since; forever. If borders are getting re-arranged it would be a great opportunity for the creation of Cascadia. A merger of BC, Washington, Oregon, and California.

Borders of this continent should have been drawn north/south not east/west.

The one thing that Trump has overlooked that would close the deal for many is the requirements for French on lables and government employment?
An end to bilingual in all forms?

While I don't think it will happen in my lifetime, for Alberta there are only positives. We would get rid of our central canuckistanian slavers for one. Under the current arrangement, AB is just a tax farm. Another advantage would be access to health care. My neighbor, who is in his 70's had shoulder sugery last Jan in Idaho. Doing quite well today as they are out walking the dogs past our place every morning.

Yup, I'm sure trump would be doing it for the benefit of Canadian farmers. trump and his buddies exploit, pillage and move on. If he tried it, other Americans would have him in court for a century challenging it on constitutional grounds. Professional associations would be trying to disqualify Canadian professionals. Keep dreaming.

I find this all ridiculous. From my understanding the tact that Trump is taking is "classic Trump". Why everyone is rushing out and making statements trying to counter the outlandish statements is pointless. I see someone who see's a weak country from the antics of a out going Trudeau and see's an opportunity. It's my understanding that our trade imbalance with the US is largely due to oil and gas. Cut it off and the US consumer pays more and they have to us more middle eastern oil, not something they want. Over 75% of the potash US farmers use currently comes from Canada (Sask).
If it does come to pass that there is tariffs that the US puts on then I hope and expect that Canada puts tariffs of their own that US industries and consumers feel quickly. There is no need and no point to bad mouthing anyone in the media other than sending the proper negotiators to fix this. The few out there who want a mega US are going to make their voices heard but for me a better economic union would be a great win. Think of a North American version of a Euro, and the type of cooperation that the European Union enjoys. I think it would be able to avoid some of the pitfalls and mistake the the EU has had to work through.

Have seen it claimed that a 25% tariff on Canadian oil would raise prices at the pump by $1 a gallon.
Elections are won and lost on the price of gas .
Never happen. Zero chance for that one.

                  So no across the board.

                  All a negotiation.
We already have a starting agreement.

The US might not tariff oil and gas or potash or electricity coming from Canada, but might be a good thing for Canada if we tariffed those commodities ourselves as a counter tariff on our own commodities. If they need it, they can pay up. And put a tariff on US corn and other grains moving north. We don’t need their grain in here, we got lots. Wouldn’t take the US long to smarten up when they start running out of fuel and oil and start rolling blackouts in the NE States. Meanwhile our fuel and potash prices would go down due to oversupply. Barley prices and feed wheat prices would go up. Good for farmers. Works for me.
