You have to hope that the Premiers had a shitty constitution & a PMO that used every aspect of the Parliamentary procedures provided for executive authority shoved in their face hard and down their throats far enough to realize the powers of the PMO must be balanced and checked.

I know the majority of citizens did.

It's fair to say that Harper departed from the Reform Party blue book measures he helped to create before he was elected PMO. Indeed, the record shows how that ended!

The blue book had recommended Parliamentary reforms (hence the name Reform Party)
which were intended to address the demand: "The West Wants In." The list included checks and balances like Senate Reform, free votes, and redistribution of the PMO's powers.

Premier Brad Wall was right to ask, like Premier Clyde Wells and Premier Don Getty before; regrettably, Premier Grant Devine was never on the list. However, for this to be different today, we will need the majority of Premiers to address the need for Constitutional reform to create a better functioning nation for the future.

Indeed, the ball will be in the Premier's court, as no PMO will willingly consent to reduced powers.

    Hope springs eternal!

And yes, we should all demand our Premiers to do this. The Confederation of 1867 never included the majority of provinces in the negotiation. It is time to address this issue.

What this country needs is a referendum on a Triple E senate.

Let the people decide, for we know the politicians will never agree.

If eastern Canada votes yes then we implement it effective yesterday and build a nation, if they vote no, then the West leaves and build its own great nation!

Borders of this continent should have been drawn north/south not east/west.
I had an interesting discussion with a businessman from the Seattle area at New Years.
Washington, and Oregon are just like BC, a big city that votes far left, with the remainder of the states going the complete opposite direction. There is a concerted effort to unite the rural areas of Washington, Oregon and Idaho without Portland and Seattle.

As for borders running on the wrong axis, every single province in Canada does more trade with the US, than with the rest of Canada. Geography runs north south, voting patterns run north south.

So what your saying is a country is better to a country made up of people with similar views and occupations in order to be happy.think you should research education by states and you would see a direct pattern in how people vote.more so than geographic.

I will agree but disagree with one word, disenfranchisement.

That is not the smoking gun that you think it is. It is a direct reflection on the propaganda that is brainwashed into students at our educational institutions. The ability to be brainwashed indicates a very low level of intelligence.

You are veering far off into the conspiracy theory territory that typically gets threads moved to Chuck's asylum.

Many of the people that came to the capital admitted they were mislead by Trump.Have you ever watched some of the videos of the march? No rocket scientists or people I would want to do heart surgery on me.Just do the research and check the most and least educated states and cities then compare how they typically vote.

Looks like we have an early entrant to take a go at the special interest groups.
Be interesting to see how many votes he can gather there.
Justin Trudeau seems to base his campaign on special interests with some success.
Many city mayors seem to be elected that way?

Who is the early entrant you refer to? Is this chart current? I thought there would be more from C hina.

How many generations does it take to "assimilate" into Canadian culture? It certainly does not happen with the 1st.
