The more dumb things he says the less impact they will have.

Media has to be happy to have him back.
They can survive on his social media and don't have to do any actual work.

How can any body negotiate with Trump when he pulls numbers out of his ass.

I turly feel sorry for you cattle guys when Donald puts the 25% tarrif on, as 75% of Canadian beef is shipped to the US.
Trump calls it subsidies not trade deficit. And if you take in account services the deficit is next to nothing. I feel sorry for the American consumer that thought Trump was going to reduce grocery prices. There is such a shortage of beef right now some plants in the states would have to shut down and Canadian beef would easily find other markets.

Most of my life cattle have been a barely break even business, if beef prices crash it’s just the same old story that we have seen many times before….

Beef shortage has been perpetuated by the morons that think cow farts are heating up the planet. This is what u get when u let the kids run the cheque book

You both do not know what your talking about.Shortage is to do with farmers aging out in the cattle bussiness. The last few years many of the mid age bred cows got slaughtered .replacement heifers going into feedlot.New record prices set for the last year monthly.Sale barns have twice the active buyers trying to fill orders. No slow down in site.Steak houses and burger joints still no end to customers.

Last time cattle numbers were at today's level was 1989.when NorthAmerica had 110 million less people and our planet had almost 3 billion less people.

The beef shortage is mainly caused by the low returns ranchers have received, most years ranchers would have made more money working at McDonald’s flipping beef and working less hours.

If ranchers are making money all of a sudden cows are in style and the young people are thinking chasing a cows tail is a wonderful idea, if those same people are working hard supporting cows with a couple off farm jobs and still have trouble paying the power bill it’s making ranch work not sexy anymore, growing protein isn’t a hobby and we all need some profit, no profit and it’s the old guys holding the bag.

Cattle were OK before the BSE scam. The buisness lost most of its appeal for primary producers.
                  Shifted the power too far.
We missed the top of the cycle and our neighbors had an extra good one due to the embargo.
Got a short bump on the next in the mid teens?
Now here we are but not enough cows left for a healthy industry.

You wonder if they are actually making money after they pay for their inputs and depreciation costs. The wolves in the industry are taking their cut to.

Your wrong.Times like that is what has made times like this so profitable. You knew things could change fast so you learned to keep things as self sufficient as possible.Very seldom had to buy extra feed .Used marginal land that did not have a good return for livestock.Kept a ratio of grain and cattle that in tough years one could help the other.

Agri-Stability like those ratio's, premium money coming in, 0 money being paid out.
It helps to pay for the mortgages of administration and accountants.

Ya ag stability was useless.Thought the year BSE hit I also got froze out.livestock inventory crashed in value.Except government changed rules not to include breeding inventory loss in ag stability .

Kind of looks like Trump is going to use tarriff money collected to reduce taxes for the billionaires.

Only differences this time is live weights averaging 1600# vs 1300# in 1989, and dairy steers half crossed beef breeds. Otherwise yeah herd size is abysmally low and no signs of it ever increasing. I’m sitting at less than half of what we traditionally keep and I don’t foresee building back much. I’m not renting any grass. Just making use of marginal lands and complimenting my grain operation.
