Friday Cocktail in the last week of January 2025

Good morning, ah finally Moe is on Team Alberta's side.

Trudeau cant even put his sweater on the right way.

Canada needs pipelines running east, and west and south. We need tariffs dropped between provinces that hinder trade. We need a Canada first policy and not just Quebec trickle down system.

We need to be a strong nation again.

We need the liberals and NDP out.

Also the NDP don't work for workers they never have it was just a way to get votes. Unions leaders destroyed Amazon in Quebec and now unemployed workers cant figure out why.

Trump is getting shit done in the USA he has two years and shit is about to get real.

There are two genders we all know that and a 1000 mental disorders.

Opening the JFK files, yeah a good start but let's do Pedo Island and Didi.

More snow again in Sask its piling up.

Two farm shows and a grad reunion, chem deliveries and crop plans for 25 plus a new to us mechanical. its almost time to head south.

Grain prices had a nice run up so rewarded by selling canola $14.56 and wheat $8:00. Sheet should be higher with our pathetic dollar.

Big dogs must need cash, lots of cash as they have been delivering hard since fall.

We all look at the big dogs and wonder but if its getting tighter on your farm imagine a farm with all new equipment, paying massive rents and purchasing land way over value plus massive wages. Yea and they have to answer investors.

Grain down hard this morning, must have rained in SA.

Farm shows were good lots of tire kickers and visiting.

Rumour maybe trouble putting deal together on one of the latest land deals.

Trump effect is real, he believes the usa should be the greatest country in the world. Canada needs an election and a real leader.

Ah, it's time for a drink.

Pour the apple mixture over the ice.

Top off with Mountain Dew and gently stir to combine.

Serve immediately and enjoy this crisp and refreshing cocktail!

    Total Time: 5 minutes

Here is a good story from Florida.

Yesterday a guy broke into our community and was walking around looking for something to take. (came over the back fence)

One of our community watch guys noticed on his cameras the man but thought that was strange but maybe a worker.

The criminal decided to walk into his front door uninvited.

The community watch guy dialled 911, then pulled his gun out and walked into his living room. Told him about the castle law and pointed at the criminal.

Through a pair of handcuffs at him and instructed him to put them on or face the consequences of breaking into someone's home.

The guy did as he said.

Police arrived min later and arrested the guy. Plus the guy didn't get released.

That's how it's done. One note most retired guys in the US are ex-military and have protection.

In Canada, you would be dead or beaten and an hour later the cops might show up.

Our government isn't even working. Trudeau sends out his groomsmen to say the money bills will be voted on in late March and then an election if Jag doesn't drop to his knees again. January February March plus the election period of no government while the US government is working.

I had kind of forgotten what it was like to have Trump as President and the almost daily headline crisis reported by media only overshadowed by the next crazy proclamation that dominates till yet another takes it out.

Trump is one of the best presidents they have had, it’s pretty easy to understand, he puts his country first and that’s what he was elected for, why can’t Canadians have someone that puts Canadians first?

SF - your last week Pineapple drink looked awesome. I really wanted to try it out so I thought no problem, will get the pineapple juice at Safeway. Oops none to be found in the coolers so went all over Regina including Costco and found out that there is no pineapple juice in Regina. But I am going to Las Vegas next week and free Mai Tai’s will have to do for now. How is the snow in Florida? I am hoping to catch a flight Atlantis this winter and will fly into Miami probably March.

I don't disagree with that, but no nation is an economic island.

Maybe not "the best" part but putting their own country first might not be a bad idea that maybe Canada could use a lesson in.

Noticed the cattle equipment prices are starting to catch up to the grain stuff while going around ag days. The Trump word used lots there in Brandon this week.

Has anyone priced fert lately just curious if it’s up/down/sideways from December. I’ve noticed farm diesel prices climb in the last month or so.

I was at the Saskatoon show and iron sales are slow (coming from salesmen etc).. a lot of that is due to equipment going crazy in size and tech. The new meridian 13” truck unload auger has a 75hp diesel and the grain bag extractor looks like a spaceship. I think producers were willing to pay for these advancements when grain prices were high but I think producers are willing to buy the more cost effective option (meridian 12” for example). Im curious what the spring auctions will look like.

Side note, has anyone seen the new JD tractors on farm yet or are they just on display yet.

I was like SF and sold some cnl again. I keep hearing that CAD cnl is trading at a wide discount to European ****seed.. correct me if I’m wrong but can only Clearfield cnl be shipped to the EU and if so, should the non-gmo cnl prices be rising?

Have done zero new crop, but $8 wht and $14 seems like a starting point and better hope for avg to good yields.

167 used X9’s on Pattison’s website. My guess is thats not all of them. Probably a slew of them waiting to get listed.

If people weren’t buying them at $800k brand new a pop couple years ago, why would they buy them for $900k with 500 hours on them. Something has to give……

Can still get a new bourgault for a million bucks though. Whens the last time they weren’t sold out….

Out of curiousity I looked up how many new combines are sold in Canada each year, turns out it averages 1800, According to the article I read 2079 were sold in 2023. I have to admit I was amazed it was that many.

Holland America. Then when we are on the river we are with a company called Do Brazil Right for a few days into the Amazon Jungle and up some tributaries. It’s a complicated agenda to set up plus you need yellow fever shots and malaria pills. Plus April 01 Canadians will need a visa to visit Brazil which is a process in its self.Water levels were at record lows so trip was almost cancelled but it’s been raining steady now so we hope we get to all our destinations. Will report back when we arrive if we have data .
