Trump tariffs could be devastating to the American economy. What comes around goes around in the world of global trade. Markets adjust, realign . . . .

Now USD fallout and many global currencies in-recovery. Loonie 72 cents or bust?

U.S. retail data released today, a bust, down nearly 1% in January. This is huge as 70% of U.S. economy is consumer spending.

Canada has been in-recession for months, but now the U.S. entering in a big way. Job losses just starting to ramp-up. U.S. real estate good grief. Deals, deals . . . .

If the stock market and cryptos bust, Trump may never utter the word ‘tariff’ again. A true gong show (IM0) . . . .

Except consumer spending doesn't make an economy. Especially when most of that consumer spending is on imported consumer goods contributing to the trade deficit.

If we take the long term view, falling consumer spending, being replaced by investment in domestic industries would be positive. But not when we measure GDP in the meaningless way we do now.

Except consumer spending doesn't make an economy.? If that spending is on locally made products it does. And not spent on imports.

Rational behind tariffs but mostly flawed theory we all agree

Once you have everything in place then apply tariffs hes put cart before the horse

The U.S. economy is now failing rapidly. It’s now not just risk of a recession, it could be a depression. Unemployment skyrocketing.

Trump is a bull in a china shop and there is glass everywhere. How does this stimulate an economy with such stiff international competition? The U.S. is dead broke. 25% of its debt is maturing and rolling over right now. No wonder Trump wants interest rates to drop.

Apparently 45% of Russel (small cap) companies are now unprofitable . . . Zombie companies. Stock market / Crypto risk couldn’t be higher.

Ironically, the Cdn dollar and other currencies could rally through this U.S. mess. Asia and Europe could be the major benefactors when the dust eventually settles. Canada will also have realignments and may come out of this stronger with the right leadership in the long run.

Nobody wins a trade war as aggressors will find out . . . .

Trump touted bankruptcy as solution for America's s debt. He is an expert in declaring bankruptcy.

It will be a train wreck.

Maybe the bloodletting will save the patient....

                      Maybe the patient doesn't recover.

                      Time will tell.
