Big difference seems USA farms get aid payments every year where Canadian farms might see some money after 2 or 3 bad years and a lot of bitching. With less demand for canola and soymeal down the road jet fuel might be the only thing that saves our buts.

Except US prices are nearly always being undercut by South american, fsu, and Australian prices. All of which are virtually unsubsidized.
That that doesn't exactly reinforce the idea that subsidies are creating cheap food.
All indications are, subsidies and safety nets are creating expensive land, expensive rent and demand for expensive machinery.

One thing that traditionally kept western Canadian farms half assed internationally competitive was cheap land, high quality, naturally fertile land, and cold winters which keeps pests away. Now, land is trading at unprecedented prices. One less advantage and a government out to push us into redundancy makes us less competitive. Last thing we want is subsidies like that of the USA or Europe because every dollar we accept comes with strings attached and it inflates land, machinery, and input prices.

You're part of the problem, as you've stated on Agriville you're enrolled in government safety net programs , took cash advances, and CEBA.
For a guy constantly bad mouthing government involvement and subsidies in their business, your actions are quite the opposite.
Ab5, not hard to figure out why your in favour of Canada becoming the 51st state.??

I read that the average tax per Canadian per year for health care is just over $5000. There would be pluses and minuses to switching. I see few paths out of the current health care situation in Canada. Increased use of A.I. to replace primary care doctors, more out sourcing over seas are a few, putting all your eggs in one basket with the government managing access to care to control costs is asking people to support the current situation with their lives in some cases. The Supreme Court ruled that the health care act could not be jepardized with private health care even though they have preferential access, a conflict to say the least.

australia Medicare levyThe levy is about 2% of your taxable income. You pay the levy on top of the tax you pay on your taxable income. Your Medicare levy may reduce if your taxable income is below a certain amount. In some cases, you may not have to pay this levy at all?. Capped on top end I believe
