Yes conditions haven’t been conducive to big yields for several years but compared to years ago I think newer varieties have more yield stability. Seemed a poor year you’d get 15 bushels where now it may be 25. However, in times where conditions have been mostly favourable I have a hard time hitting those big yields I had 8 years ago, and the worst is I think I’m doing a better job than then. Wheat on the other hand I’m seeing improvements. 25 by 25 is a canola council fever dream.

The article talks about an increase in average yield which equates to 1.4 bu per acre.

Wouldn't year to year growing conditions account for most of that?

Absolutely, it is possible for average yields to jump 6-8 bus / ac over the last 3-4 years with a more favourable growing season here in western Canada
