After watching the 50 minutes of very public negotiations, I feel that language and cultural misunderstandings were at play. I believe the series of unfortunate events started when Z asked JD "what diplomacy do you speak of" after giving a bit of a history lesson. Anyone that has been around Ukrainian broken language would understand how this could be perceived. There were ~42 minutes of very congenial conversation and engagement with the media - it was obvious that this Q&A session was harder for Z having to process and then respond. I don't understand why this format was agreed to.

Trump was the first one to comment on it when Zelensky arrived at the Whitehouse. "He is all dressed up today" was literally the first words out of Trumps mouth when Zelenskyy got out of the motorcade.
