Of interest is both crops are somewhat low input if one has unsecured fertilizer. probably not many acres but definitely an option on some farms

$17.33. $17.78, $18.50, $19.00, no whoop. Suggest they try harder for excitement.

caseih said friends don't let friends grow flax.

        There's a reason, or two....

If you're short of bin space, grow flax. If you don't care about having a large suite of broad leaf weed crop production products(herbicides) to choose from... grow flax. If you like growing uncompetitive crops... grow flax. If you like recreational jobs, like dealing with the flax straw... grow flax. If you like loose dry ashy seedbeds the following year.... grow flax. If you like getting deductions(surcharge) from grain prices because you were unfortunate enough to sometimes harvest high dockage grain... grow flax. If you like competing against "falling star growers" (people chasing last year's high prices)... grow flax.

        ....we do!

Checking, it's nice to reminisce(or hope for) about 21/22 crop prices but reality slapped all grain commodity prices in the face. Me thinks their could be a bit of upside left but are we at a level were the downside is greater than the upside. Didn't Kazakhstan have a good flax crop? We need more pets with shiny coats and Omega 3 egg eaters. Happy marketing, shop around.

If Trump gets his way and actually tarriffs exports from Canada then the flax market is toast in Canada. Much of the exports to USA from Canada are all high value and it will dramatically hurt that crop. Chickpeas are similar.

Trump is a lying sack of shit and it doubt it will happen in the end but watch closely for the issue before seeding these two crops.
