    FCC gets a billion

Just announced Friday that the federal government has given FCC a billion dollars? No details but cattle guys should be able to get made whole for the drop in cattle prices for no apparent reason other than they ( whoever they is ) can.

I say this because they are going to make sure other industry's workers have money to make mortgage payments if the industry is hurt.

FCC gets a billion, Picture Butte Cattle Feeders Association gets a billion, we all get a billion, at some point risk and reward have to be brought together.

Unfortunately it might be needed with everything going on and fortunately it is there. Hopefully it doesn’t all go to the 15000 acre + farms.

With US and India and now China tarrifs on our grain there is not much good outlook for canola, peas and Cattle.

Our higher input, machinery and labour costs will be tough to get covered.

I am happy to see FCC funded to keep farms afloat and hopefully mental health positive.

Ya I don’t see how funding FCC helps grain farmers or cattle guys. So you have to take on more debt during a tariff war that is not our fault? That’s good? FCC will have strings attached, financial ratios to qualify, and those who actually need the money won’t qualify or be allowed to get it. Then paying interest on a loan the farm operation can’t afford. And then legal action when you can’t pay it all back. Sounds like a nail in the coffin for many farms. What is needed is a direct payment to the farmer, a cheque in the mailbox. Every farmer gets the same amount. Tell everyone they need to enrol in crop insurance or the cattle version of crop insurance for 2025 at the minimum level. Then send the same cheque to each enrolled farm. Fair and done. The risk takers can go borrow more money from FCC if they want to and get rich, or go broke faster.

Sounds like CERB and CEBA all over again, and we all know how that went. Many falsified application with no checks and balances in place. Once the cheque is receive and cashed say good bye to crop insurance the next year.

Good way to create more inflation in the farming community and in the end one hell of a bill for the Canadian taxpayer, besides half of the funding will be used up by administration.

It's very unfortunate that Western Canadian farmers have to suffer once again and I have no problem with FCC being bump up for those who need it as a temporary crutch because of Trumps tariffs.

Hopefully Trump finds his little blue pill and changes his mind for the 100th time as he has done in the past six weeks.

Did the rough math neighbors dairy quota on paper just the quota worth close to 40 mil. Would not take to many of those to eat up that billion hope I don't have to share.
