I'm not sure what that would achieve. sounds like a self-destructive move.

There is a couple of things about not planting a crop. The big farm that Moe loves to visit the boardroom is getting the equivalent of $42cdn per acre to farm the operation in the USA. The big farm can move his money around. The land can stay put. So for all the guys that think gov't shouldn't be doing ad hoc payments in Canada , remember while Moe's buddy is gracing the Deere dealerships in Canada , he is also buying Canadian farmland with money you don't have and your kids won't have a chance to compete with the USA treasury where they appreciate farmers.

The USA announced a 10billion ECAP program for the 2024 crop. The Emergency Commodities Assistance Program.

Conservative, NDP, and Liberal MPs don't even understand that China dropped the price of Canola back on the 2024 Labour Day weekend by a buck bushel. The USA government is paying farmers . The Canadian government ignores the issue with stupid shit like the existing BRMs will suffice.

Meanwhile dairy, auto steel is given assurances that the government will have a program for them.

Kody Blois on real agriculture could have announced an ad hoc payment for farmers similar to the USA payment if he had any balls at all.

The liberal government hasn't quit handing out money to every country or industry in the name of jobs that might not show up for years ( the EV industry for example) and are already protecting it. At the expense of an industry like farming , where farmers will spend billions of their own money to grow a crop year in and year out.

That's the message farm groups have to take to MPs that say they " know a farmer" or "their third cousin eight phucking times removed" is a farmer and somehow that qualifies them to speak about farming in western Canada.
