In the meantime, we are elbows up in Canada. In the ribs to the one industry, we need to bridge the geography and support the logistics network. And so far no response from the Ag Associations in regards to the communications lobby recommended as a way to share our story and ask farmers could be considered part of Team Canada!

I think the commodity groups felt their mandate was production oriented and not lobby oriented.
The check off, the mandate, defending the grower investments - business might need to ( have to) change, this has been talked about for years. Example export sales reporting.

Trusting others to do what’s in the farmers best interest isn’t working very well, and that’s not very good business.

What's lost in the din is that the US imported $6.3 billion of canola oil in 2023. China imported $20 million of canola oil in 2024. That is a rounding error difference for canola oil. A 100% tariff on an error on one product nowhere equates to the damage to all industries that a 25% tariff by the US will do including canola oil.

Suggest we direct our worries to who is really damaging us. Wake up call coming April 2, 2025 for you Trump supporters. The rest of us will just be caught in your wake.

There were a few outspoken Trump supports posting they were willing to take tariff pain over profit, as long as Trump won.

But, then again their the same ones wanting to become 51st staters and eyeing the USA Ag programs.

              Yay direct subsidies to farms!
              send me a cheque!
Lets hyperinflate land rent and land prices and then when the subsidies quit we are left holding the bag! Pause.

              Not

Let capitalism do its thing. Equipment correction.. coming.
              land rents.... settling
              Land values... calming.

You pump direct subsidies into that and the 1st thing guys will do is go after land rent to pay for the recent equipment purchases.

Id rather have ( what FCC is offering now) the option to push my payments back a yr with no penalty if i get in a jam.

We shouldnt be riding so close to the edge that if grain values drop by 15 % then half of us go bankrupt. Crop rotation and lower input crops are very important this year. The ability to access cheaper cash if needed, such as the canola advance ( an incredible program) should be utilized.

Direct subsidies to farms would do more to hurt canadian growers than help in the long run.

See; canola values in 2022 and the drastic increase in land rents and land values that came in the next year. Im sure 75% of those land rent deals are now a losing proposition that every person wished they hadnt signed....back when wheat was 12 bucks and canola was 18+.
