Don't forget farmers should also be pestering their CWB elected directors on this. If Parsley et al are right then its in the powers of the Directors to make some of these changes.

Today, Brenda, the CWB Board of Directors got another request asking for no-cost licenses for organic grain. Two of the Directors already enjoy this privilege if they want to use it, because they are listed as seed growers on the CWB web page. And of course, seed growers can access no-cost export licenses.
It will be interesting to see if they are willing to vote for providing others with the same opportunity.
No-cost licenses will also save conventional growers money.

Mr. Chatenay and Mr. Flaman being pro no cost license Directors on the CWB is it not true that legally the CWB Act does not allow for denial of a no cost license if a suitable price market is obtained by a producer, that does not under cut the CWB price.
Lets stop being mad about this whole thing and start looking at legal ways of getting around our problems with the CWB.
Federal Government wants hands on but no responsible for their actions.
Provincial Governments would like responsiblity to shape the agricultural industry in the best interest of its farmers and industry and employment but the Fed"s won't allow enought hands on for anybody else to change the situation. Chas

Chas,
It is clear that exports are in fact a shared provincial responsibility, and Ontario Wheat Producer's Marketing Board is the perfect example, as they do export wheat.
Marketing Boards are another example of Provincial controls over exports of these Ag products!
Agriculture is a shared responsibility, constitutionally speaking.
Now this is why Alberta can do something about this problem, and it should scare the daylights out of the CWB!
The Alberta Government was responsible in getting the non-board feed market opened up in the early 70's.
Now with hard work, we can maybe even make the CWB better and more competitive and accountable for the rest of Western Canada too!
And this would be a good thing, right Chas?

Chas...the organic producers made the request yesterday.
Chas ,you say,
"..... is it not true that legally the CWB Act does not allow for denial of a no cost license if a suitable price market is obtained by a producer, that does not under cut the CWB price. "
The CWB can issue or deny, Chas. If you want to look at legal means....what is the complaint...you need one to go to court? The Act says the Board can grant or deny. But the constitution of Canada says that discrimination is not allowed. The CWB is denying licenses ...to producers...in the west. Do you think that is discrimination Chas?
The CWB offset program in Alberta can serve to side step the discriminatory granting and denying by the Board. Like Stephen Harper says, "That's why thoughtful and responsible Canadians look to Alberta for an alternative vision." Alberta has been running their own show. They run their province better than Canada is being run.
But ultimately, the CWB must answer the question, "Are you denying licenses to producers in the west legitimately? Are you going beyond what Parliament says you can do?
Chas, there is a melding of thought that wants to help farmers. In the past, the mindset has been to scheme to download everything on farmers. But things are changing rapidly. And Albertans, as Harper says, "By staying on the outside, we have been able to retain a vibrant economy, a dynamic society and decent political values." You're "different" Chas! Thank you.
Happy Easter Agri-villers,
Parsley
