A lot will depend if Carney gets in and how far he wants to push his ideals .
there are some major concerns how far under the bus he will throw western Canada in his version of net zero, property ownership , his version of big polluters environmental taxation and both capital gains and unrealized capital gain growth
If you are a farmer you better have a plan in place

Very telling how you list 'western' before 'Canada'. I wish you guys would abandon CPC and form your own separatist Western party like the Bloc. At least then your voice wouldn't be distorted by Eastern CPC motives which are slightly more liberal. But I see a major shakeup coming in the CPC when they lose their 4th election in a row, so you might have a chance to form a truly identifiable Western party.

My standard of living isnt affected in any measureable way by any government in the last 60 years. I would have to be pretty pathetic as a businessman to rely on government to be the determining factor on my success. The intelligence/experience of my accountant and lawyer has saved my ass more $$ than any government. But I do realize that there are people in this country that do not enjoy near the level of success I have attained, so my vote goes towards helping them.

No doubt one is forced to structure your business to minimize how much government takes. As a businessman or a farmer we can do that. Your average tax payer can’t.

I also realize a person who lives east of the Manitoba Ontario border would certainly have a different perspective than say an Albertan like myself. And yes I consider myself an Albertan first.

Regardless as far as the election goes it looks like it will be decided in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, I don’t think Western Canadian votes will matter. I hope I am wrong. Looks like Canadian TDS will give Carney the win. Disgusting really. When I look at Carney’s CV I see a climate zealot who has masqueraded as a banker, all the media talks about is his time at the bank of Canada and the Bank of England. They never talk about GFANZ or being the Climate Envoy to the UN. Or the fact that his wife works with Gerald Butts at the Eurasia group.

You don't need direct cheques from the government to have your standard of living affected by government.

How much have canola, lentil, and flax growers been affected by government screwups and then by having the resulting trade issues ignored.

Government waste has to be paid by someone. So when they waste money buying ppe during covid that was defective or open the vault for programs that people scam for millions and don't get punished for. It costs everyone. When they spend billions on battery plants that go broke before they open or put up regulation roadblocks causing them to buy a pipeline and fork cash out like it is free when they realize their mistake. That affects your standard of living.

You may be doing OK right now and good for you if you are.

But the real question is how much better would you be doing if there hadn't been colossal Federal govt waste?

Economic freedom is a term bantered around.
If you look at the last 50 years Canada has lost ground. The trend continues.
I agree 100% we should have a federal party in Sk and AB like the Bloc. Without changing the senate it's all we have left. We need to wake up and be like Quebec. Maybe they're not the spoiled child but the genius.

I can’t make a perdition. To me it’s so clear that we have to break away from the corrupt Liberal because of all the scams of wasted taxpayer money and mismanagement of almost everything they touch.
